D3 S30 Altar of Rites is hateful because of Staff of Herding

And double useless primals

Completely wrong. Potions can be unlocked at the moment nearest node is unlocked. You can play PTR by yourself.

Rainbow portrait can be obtained only with staff. Spectrum and burger also can be found in it.

Not talking about the PTR on this. I’m talking about the real world when you play it in a real season. Yes in the PTR you can do it almost at the start of doing the Altar. You know from the the silver platter items.

So I’m going waste many hours or days on this to get the staff to get that stuff. OK Right Don’t Think SO!!!

Plus one other thing people why are testing the Altar again. What to test the damage on all the damages Items. They cut all of the damage items by 50% to 90%. Nothing else was done to the Altar other taking damage away from US!!! BUT WE NEED TO RETEST IT!!!

Oh boy! BigRed is on fire!
He does every season journey on four accounts and then talks about not wasting time farming some cosmetics. Each to their own of course but I remember him and his other posting account discussing the “wrong” and “right” way to play the game. He claiming to play the game the “right” way.

About the PTR: it seems he doesn’t understand the need for testing everything which includes all the changes to builds and items, the Altar, the Enmities and probably lots of other stuff down in the machine room of the game on servers and clients.
Peace :+1:

If you do story mode, you’ll get Chilltara every time.

It’s a good alternative. Somehow my campaign is reset so I would have to start from the beginning to get to Machines of War in act 3.

I really had no problem farming it season 28 on both SC and HC. But this ptr I’m at 4+ hours and no luck. Maybe it needs a bad luck mechanic added rather than improving the drop rate. Add a little extra percentage drop rate for every kill.

While we are at it. They said that they were going to rework the Altar. Yes they did by take stuff away from US.

D +200 Damage – It is now +100 damage
E +25% Missile Damage Reduction – It is now 5%
F +25% Movement Speed (Uncapped) – It is now 10%
G Increase damage against elites by 15%. – It is now 5%
I +25% Melee Damage Reduction. - It is now 5%
J Increases your highest elemental skill damage bonus by 10%. – It is now 5%
K Increase damage against elites by 20%. -It is now 5%
L +10% Damage – It is now 5%
Q Reduces the damage taken from elites by 25% - It is now 5%
R +15% Damage – It is now 5%
W Increase damage done to Bosses by 25% - It is now 5%
Y Increase your chance to Dodge by 15% - It is now 5%

Well, they were pretty transparent about nerfing it overall so it can work as a permanent addition. I’m pretty sure this is what most of us were expecting.

Campaign always starts from the beginning when you create a new char or rebirth it. I mean campaign for this very character, not for others that might have advanced in it.

Please … i dont want to kill chitara again. Been going at it for hours… please increase the drop rate.

Mechanic still the same. You can try it personally.

How are the Mechanics the same? You saying the mechanics are the same in the PTR vs the real world WOW!!!

Seasons last for several months. Also its pretty quick if u use a speed build.

From what I found during S28,

Cavern of Frost 50% chance to spawn
Chiltara 80% chance to spawn
GG drop 5% drop rate from Chiltara

so 2% chance to get GG on game creation, if you run the lame story, it is 2.5%.

Seeing as they have heavily gimped the altar, it would be nice to adjust the GG drop rate so it is in line with the other Staff pieces. Changing the drop rate to 50% would put it in line with the other Staff pieces and relieve a lot of the headache of useless grinding for one thing.

I spent 11+ hours remaking games just to get the Gibbering Gemstone.

The speed you get there is obviously a factor, but this doesn’t alter the triple layers of RNG (correct dungeon, does the mob spawn, does the mob drop the item) that makes this an incredibly tedious and unrewarding task, as you’re not gaining anything of use whilst doing this hunt. Think of how much more benefit your hero could obtain in 11 hours of GRs, for example.

It does. And if ppl farm on a barb for example then they not fast. U could do 3x-5x faster on dh for example.

U gain power when u got the next node. Obv its some grind to it but thats pretty common in arpgs. It rly depends on which games u used to play. I dont mind having some grind included in games and it seem to be kind of standard in korean mmos and arpgs. I find it healty to a games life to have some grind as they tend to stay alive longer. Ppl were complaining about finishing season within a few hours and altar gave them more to do.

Indeed you do.

However, you’re gaining almost nothing whilst farming for the gemstone. In the 11+ hours it took me to get the gem, I probably gained less than 10 paragon levels, no gear upgrades, and a tiny amount of materials.

Neither do I, but 11+ hours of remaking games for a triple-layered RNG slot machine isn’t it.

Never took me more than 4h. More like 2h avrg. Ive done it several times. For a season which last several months i dont find that bad.

When looking at the ppls profiles who complain about it take hours they all have something in common. They lack a proper speed build.

Congratulations.

Some people win the lottery the first time they buy a ticket too. You realise that just because you were lucky doesn’t invalidate the experience of others that weren’t.

They were on the unlucky side of the Binomial Distribution curve.
