Vampires carry strong folklore.
To be fun they have to be very scary.
Vampire, I mean darkest ones, have their place in the Diablo Universe.
Unfortunately Trag’Oul’s Avatar, while being oriented on Blood Magic, was never able to fulfill this role.
Yes, it is possible.
The effect happens on 20 yards and many bats have to be displayed to make the effect cool.
Several solutions:
A) 50-100 x 3D model of small bats (base model: Firebat ?)
B) 50-100 x 2D layers of small bats
C) 1 x 2D layer of 50-100 small bats (base model: Locust Swarm ?)
C is preferable for performance.
B is a good compromise for animating bats independantly (erratic + hord movement)
A is the more realistic, but can be non-neutral on GPU on some devices
was an AoE attack due to the wording, and really the only attack I can see you do yourself, so not hitting one of the many adds seems quite impossible in that case.
On a side note, Hammerlin’s swarm is close to what I imagine for the swarm of bats. More horizontal than vertical, but that kind erratic movement, applied on a 20 yards radius.
