According to the post quoted below, it sounds like there will be no way to maintain TL3 status if people do not create more than 500 new topics and at least 20,000 new posts for every 100 day period.
Does that sound right, or am I misreading it?
Is there any a way around this issue, or am I at the mercy of the masses when it comes to my precious image posting ability?
If I read everything posted in the past 100 days, will that count?
For the first bullet point, it’s not a single individual creating 500 topics, it’s viewing 500 topics, created by anyone, over 100 days. This translates into simply opening threads. You don’t have to scroll through them.
The second bullet point is just viewing 20,000 individual posts over 100 days. It seems like a lot, but for an active forum goer it’s definitely doable. It can even be cheesed by opening a thread, scrolling through the whole thing (without actually reading) and moving on to a new thread. Don’t scroll too fast though. You want to give the URL time to update as you scroll past everything.
Luckily, as you do the 2nd bullet point, you are automatically doing the first bullet point at the same time.
Right, I understand the requirements, and I have maintained TL3 for several years now.
My concern is that when people are no longer creating 500 new threads or 20,000 new posts in a 100 day period because they are all posting on the D4 forums instead, there will be no way to maintain TL3 Status.
How can I read 500 new threads and 20,000 new posts every 100 days if people do not create them? Does this mean there will no longer be any TL3s on the forums (other than MVPs) simply because people are not posting enough content for us to be able to read the bare minimum?
You can always read old dated threads as there are many. Just don’t reply and bring them up after several months of inactivity. You don’t require to create any threads, but view and read as long as it’s available. As there is no date restriction on the threads that you can read up or simply skim over without even reading. If you scroll down, you will find a heap of threads for you to maintain forum trust level; there is no date limit.
If forum traffic gets slowed down to a halt, either the requirement won’t be needed to maintain the trust level or removed down the line altogether. Until then, keep reading up.
Well, I thought that was the case, but the wording says “Of posts/topics created in the last 100 days…” so anything older than that would not count, right?
I know that the various requirements can be manaully set/changed on the back end for each forum. I wonder if that is something Bliz does/could do on the slower forums.
Do you have any communication with anyone at Blizzard whom you could ask about this?
I suppose I could create dummy threads with my alternate accounts tucked away somewhere in a dark corner of the forums where it would not bother anyone just to keep my status, but this seems a bit bogus.
Do you have any reference for this, or is it just a feeling you have?
Mine lapsed about a week ago, and I had to skim through around 3,000 posts to get it back again. Of course, it might have a delay on it, so I am not sure if it took all 3k of those to get it back or not.
If the requirements are so low, you would think there would be more than 21 people on the list who were not granted that status by Blizzard…
Not saying you are wrong, but there were an awful lot of people posting around the beginning of the season, but I guess that was more than 100 days ago.
Blizzard has the ability to adjust the TL3 requirements for read count, likes, etc. Depending on forum activity, that is already adjusted from the base Discourse requirements.
They don’t tell us what that is, but I do know it is not the same as say…WoW or Overwatch.
Like MC said above, Bliz can scale the TL requirements on the forums.
Additionally, they do occasionally monitor the general activity of the forums and adjust the requirments when they feel it can help maintain TL levels.
Not to say it’s always guaranteed, just that they may periodically make adjustments as they think they’re needed and helpful.
