Hear me out. Maybe blizzard can make it happen. I understand that D3 will never get controller support as its different from the console version. But, if you cant add controller to PC version at least port the console version over to PC and give PC players that own the game the option to choose which version of D3 they want to play. I got an ROG ally and love D2 and D4 on it but still like D3 and it would be really great if i can play it on my device.
This is still a major resource sink with no return. It’s not happening.

Exactly. People really need to understand that there has to be means recover the investment and D3 basically has none. If there isn’t any of that, then no investment is made. D3 is a B2P game with no constant monetisation, thus any major update done after release is basically done at a loss (from a business perspective).
They can sell it but maybe give like a big discount to people that have the game already. Besides porting it over shouldnt be that hard. They already have the xbox version, just make it work on PC

Can’t you play Diablo Immortal on the device? That should keep you entertained… and it’s even free.
You really think an 11 year old game that’s officially retired will have much new sales? I would imagine even among current owners there’s a very small number interested in paying for the game again for the ability to use controller on PC, I would think the vast majority that had controller as a criteria picked up a console version.

they’ve literally said, even though its diablo 3, its fundamentally a new game, code wise. diablo 3 console and diablo 3 pc are two separate games, thats why its not even crossplay so in essence, it is “that hard”, making it just work on diablo 3 pc will cost them a ton to rewrite all the code so that it would work with a controller. they are beyond working on diablo 3 anyways. the only thing i could offer as an alternative is looking into mods that translate keystrokes into controllers. i dont know if its TOS breaking but from what ive heard they have something to that effect even though it doesnt work well.
It might be profit-able to release a controller version now that handheld PC’s are becoming a thing. Companies releasing their stuff on Steam are eager to have the “Steam Deck Verified” mark, so that the games will be promoted towards Steam Deck owners, because many people buy games specifically to play on these devices.
D2R and Immortal (and even D4) plays very well on my Steam Deck, having D3 would be a dream, but it should be the PC version with added controller support, imo.
It’s not happening. If it was going to happen, they would have done it by now.
Steam deck is projected to reach 3 million total units sold this year. The handheld market is quite small as of now.
