D2R, how well would it run on this hardware?

I’ve been considering getting a new gaming laptop for a while now. Not just for D2R, but Ideally something that can run it smoothly.
One I’ve been eyeballing has these specs:

Intel i7-11800H
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
16 GB DDR4 RAM, 1024 GB SSD

Any alpha/beta players with similiar hardware out there?

Well, it’s above the recommended specs to play it so should run fine.

I’m mostly concerned after reading about so many people having overheating problems.

Isn’t that par for the course for a laptop?

It will probably melt as it seems the more resources available, the more the game plunders.

That’s why I’d rather confirm, before spending money.

Could always run it on lower than ultra 4K.

Honestly, 1080p running at 30 - 60fps is playable enough in my opinion, as long as the framerate is stable. The game apparently needs 2 - 6gb of VRAM, how well would it perform with 4gb?

Assuming 2gb is potato mode.

It should be fine. I’d look around the interwebs to see if anyone has tried the beta with similar specs. But it’s above the recommended specs and most of the issues seem to be those running at 2/4k at or near ultra settings.

Doing just that. its why I’m interested to hear if any alpha/beta players are running similiar setups.

ur system is so outdated. i think not even windows 95 will works on it.

Intel i7-11800H - do u want to play dos games?
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 - maybe enough for diablo 1 or doom. with much luck for age of empires 1
16 GB DDR4 RAM, 1024 GB SSD - if d2r should works, u have to load around 10min. to use a waypoint.

u should buy a better system.

honest? no.
that system is one of the newest systems. why u think about if d2r can work on it?

only honest tip: when u buy it buy it with windows 10.

Becouse D2R is the only new game I’m interested in buying in a long time. Also the laptop in question seems to have decent price for the hardware.

with that system u will be able to play games in 7 years with good or normal graphic.
so don’t worry about d2r. It has enough power to run this at max. settings. And much more demanding games too like red dead redemption 2 or cyberpunk 77 (maybe not on 4k with over 60fps but do u want to play on 4k? then u have to buy a rtx 3080 or 3090).

At least, ur system will be good enough for all games atm (on all resolutions (except 4k) with a good fps).

How much is the price? And which mainboard does it have?

The laptop is MSI Katana GF66 for 1200 euros, and by mainboard you mean chipset? HM570.

if it’s original and not second hand, go to buy it.

But the price sounds too good to be true. atm just the single graphic card (rtx 3060) cost arround 600€. Same hardware for a PC (not laptop) would be a good price too. And normally, laptops costs more as pcs with same hardware.

Be carefull by that offer. Check the seller before u pay.

Heck, with my OCd i5-3750K I was playing games with my 1070 just fine last year when we bought some unbelievable priced prebuilts that were cheaper than the going rate for the 2080s that were in them.

The seller is a pretty reputable Finnish store, so I’m not too worried about that. The laptop is on sale, the original price is listed at 1449€

It is a valid concern. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to prevent problems, until they fix the game to allow us to configure card usage directly. As it is now, the game just lets the card work as hard as it can and generate as much FPS as possible without a limiter.

Which is why cards heat up unfortunately.

Go for it. It’s imo a good system (rly good for 1200€ on these days) and a good offer.
And has more as enough power for d2r.

Can u give me a link for that offer?

I have a similar Alienware laptop and it runs D3 just fine. Not sure about D2R though.
