D2R: Diablo 2's Cut Content - The Butcher

I would absolutely love to see the Butcher make the cut into Diablo 2 Resurrected after seeing the article published by Game Rant below. Thoughts?

I wonder why they cut the Butcher in D2 in the first place as it is such an iconic monster…

Yes but as I read, they want to shorten the seasons.
That’s just bad for the RPG players among us and makes the game a competition that will soon be scrapped anyway.
I hope the servers that are exempt from this, do not seem like pensioner servers, but just have no ladder cut in it, but otherwise all the content, so that you really have ways there and do not have to constantly throw away his character.
In the current D2 rune words are missing, for example, which can be found only in ladder mode, etc…

I just can’t get anything out of this sport in an RPG game. Especially the sense to torpedo by breaking the paths, is RPG hostile and makes the whole thing so pointless.
But I don’t want to be punished by missing content when I don’t want to join these constantly new seasons, but want to go a solid way, to have time and to form my characters as well, and that with many other players as a community.

Technically, nothing mentioned is “new content”. You did read the article, right?

I hear you, but if you add them into every game, they become less interesting to come across. With that said, they were done such a disservice in Diablo 3, maybe D2R is needed to return them to glory!

All the code for The Butcher can be found in Diablo 2’s files (e.g. monster animations, sounds, and AI), so technically it’s not “new content” but rather “orginal content” (albeit scrapped) that was developed by Blizzard North.

Thoughts?

I seem to recall tons of hate by the D2 faithful about Blizzard using the Butcher in D3. Some seem to love that he was rehashed for D2 though. Interesting.

As for D2R specifically, it’s not the true D2 experience so it should stay cut.

Butcher doesn’t fit the story. Perhaps he can be added as an optional side boss somewhere to drop something special. Diablo Clone event anyone? Mosquito spawning nests sound nice because that’s where stamina system glares through as something with utility, even though it could be annoying to some.

Guild system? I hope so. I have no idea how that would work with cross progress of consoles to PC but I’d rather leave that to the guys at Blizzard.

I think they wont add it in a remaster but will add these features mentioned in D4.

What’s the rational basis for concluding it all “might show up?” That’s incredibly presumptuous.

Nothing in there quotes even a bad source. Its just “Stuff was hidden in the original D2 game files, so that’s evidence that it might show up in D2R.” Is that how clickbait works now?

Feels like that’s intended to send gullible people running to Facebook and Twitter saying “I heard they’re gonna include all the cut content!”
