D2: Resurrected Official Changes

Highlights: (gameplay footage below)

  1. The graphics look surprisingly detailed and 3D.
  2. They included quality of life changes like a much bigger shared-stash and auto gold pick-up. (you can toggle the auto pick up feature)
  3. They are also letting you toggle between the new and old version so all current mods will be usable. however they wont allow modding of D2R itself for “security reasons”.
  4. its $39.99. You can pre-order now. ==> Diablo II: Resurrected™ - Diablo II: Resurrected | Battle.net
  5. They are going into Alpha soon in order to test new quality of life changes to see if players want more changes or less.
  6. it looks like Online-only for the new D2R graphic version. But you can still play the old D2 version offline.

They need to elaborate on the QOL changes, because just re-running (even for dedicated players) will burn out quick smart.

They are going into Alpha soon so they can get direct feedback on their QOL changes. they want to know if they went too far or not far enough.

Fingers crossed. Dedicated players should have their thoughts respected for sure.

The shared stash is a nice change that honestly doesn’t actually change how the game plays since most of us with tons of characters just had mules anyway.

I’m seeing an internet connection listed as a requirement for the game so it sounds like they’re going always online, which is rather disappointing. I guess that’s about the one thing that can actually stop modding, but people who want to play modded Diablo 2 will just play the original anyway.

It is funny to me after being told by several die hard D2 fans “the game could never work on console, it’s too complex” that they’re releasing this on console(and from the screenshots the PC version has the original keybind system so they’re not changing it just to suit consoles).

Sounds like it is confirmed that original D2 servers will NOT be taken down. Blizzard learned from WC3R.

Ugh. That is horrible.

Yeah, it’s less surprising modern Blizzard couldn’t resist doing it knowing that D2R is a full rebuilding of the game but you still hate to see it.

At least the original is always there for modding and playing offline.

i really hope they make gold auto pickup, thats all i need for a pre order lol

They moved from 2D Engine to a 3D engine and redid many of the assets.

they did. he mentions it in the video i posted. sorry i shouldve said it in the OP highlights.

oh cool, i will watch it after the official stream.

we will get alot of info at the end of this aswell

So it has Ladders and is on Console so the big question is will D2:R have online saves for Ladders and avoid the exploiting that offline saves brings on Console?

  1. The stash is bigger, but not by a lot. From 6x8 to 10x10 which is double space. With the shared stash it’s 4x total, excluding mules.

  2. The engine is actually the old one. They simply “paint” 3d graphics on top of it.

So much for everyone’s prediction that it would be like the SC remaster with offline mode…

you sure? it looked alot smoother, good job of them “painting” over the 10 year old 2d graphics in that case.

Yeah, Id like a source on that too.
But 8 minutes to the panel on D2R.

Rhykkers latest video. He got some preview with the developers.

not watched it yet, kinda like AI upscale?

i think im most excited for the remastered cinematics lol

It’s the same game with better graphics (and auto-gold pickup and shared stash.)

  • Items the same.

  • No balance changes

  • No new content

  • No instanced content

I mean, it’s good for a couple weeks of playthrough, I guess. I’ll probably pass on it. I have played this game to death already.

That they won’t listen to a word of.
