D2 original looks better then D2 Ressurection. It does

I’m sorry i might upset a small group of newer players by saying this, but i’ve played both and sure Ressurection is very sparkly and new, it just doesnt look as good in most aspects. You cant look at me with a straight face and tell me Charged bolt doesnt look better in the original version. Also poison javelin, bone spear, blizzard, nova, pretty much most of the new spells look better in the original version. I could concede fire spells look better, but that’s about it. But they kinda downgraded things like poison nova ect.

Also the maps are a lot less playable and you can’t see much of what’s going on compared to the original maps. The cities look good, but all you do is stand around in them so yah. Also the ui is probably the biggest downgrade graphics-wise. I know some people like it better but i dont understand how because the original UI just looks better.

I’m gonna play D2 ressurection but im not going to use the new graphics.

Why would anyone be upset about your subjective opinions?

Personally I can’t play anything at 800x600 for more than a few mins before my head starts to explode.

Cool. Why don’t you post this on the D2R board instead? You did actually buy the game right?

Or were you worried your hot take was going to be buried amongst all the complaining and the boomers lashing out trying to gatekeep their amazing game?

no i dont preorder games, that’s not smart business. The practice of preordering is cancerous to the gaming industry and always has been. It’s done nothing but corrode the quality of games.

Take D2 ressurection for example, they are forcing it out early with more bugs then any game i’ve ever beta tested. People are literally crashing every 30 minutes.

Now that is a hot take :joy:

Im sure Blizzard will lose a ton of sleep over this.

honestly, i share your opinion. the originals are pretty much always better than the remastered versions, especially if you can play them right alongside said remaster.

they really bombed with Arcane Sanctuary. It had the most potential of any map to look insane and amazing.

I hope they made up for it with the jungles and Chaos Sanctuary. only time will tell.

You think pixel counting looks better? Ok…

When Diablo becomes photorealistic or, better yet, Cubist, then I can say unequivocally that the art is “better looking.” Or maybe some extreme abstract like Jackson Pollock.

Until then, The Dude says that’s just like your opinion man.

It made sense years ago (for console especially) when digital format was not a standard, but now, I agree with you I almost never preorder.

I played the D2R beta this weekend for several hours and had a blast. It is actually better than I was expecting it to be, with only a few bugs/tweaks needed to be worked out. With that said, and the fact that I am going to get it, I still have not preordered. There is no purpose to do so and I don’t want to play until ladder has started. These days I typically don’t even buy games when they first release, though D2R is an exception and I actually pre-ordered Tales of Arise, since I found 15% off deal for preordering and want to support the game/can’t wait to play it.

Oh and on topic with the title of the article. I totally disagree and think overall, D2R is the best looking game in the genre thus far.

I think it looks fine-ish, but they need to work out the frame rate issues and the excessive GPU usage. Having to force the game to run and sub optimal resolutions kinda defeats the purpose of having better graphics. My gaming laptop which runs PoE and D3 with zero issues was screaming at the character creation screen in D2R. I refunded.

Kinda surprised people had framerate issues. I was running at 120+ fps at all times.
Game still ran terrible, due to the servers, but frames were fine.

I had a range of 60 - 110 fps depending on the area. I am also running it maxed out and at 3440x1440, so that of course is more demanding. typically I was around 75-80 fps I think, but varied on the area. I have a 2080, but my buddy has a 3080 and his was running pretty much max frames (120).

As for the lag, I had a few moments, but nothing that bad in all honesty. Would it be nice to be a bit better? Sure. But it was pretty stable and not too often it was actually noticeable.

Also, ultrawide is much better than I was expecting based on the people complaining they took it away. It is still wider and it is nicely faded into the black bars. Really, I hardly noticed there was any black bars at all and it played very well.

obvious troll is obvious. 0/10.

What, one of the best Diablo players does not even know the correct name of the game?

the remastered versions of final fantasty 1 to 6 thats on steam are the pixel remasters, so… yeah. (one to three is out now, go look at it)

It’s because he constantly quits, to watch bathtub streamers.

And to be fair, save for the exhorbitant price, they’re the best remasters of those games yet. Save maybe for the PSP version of IV which was beautiful.

100 dollars for six games is an amazing deal if you like final fantasy at all. you could easily spend hundreds of hours in each one.
