I have a friend who thought about getting the game but then said she saw for a fact…Loot in D2 was shared…not individualized…and that alone was the reason why she was not getting the game.
I told her that I only knew about the Loot shared across your characters and that I almost knew that it was the same as in D3…and personally can’t see seven players in coop fighting over some loot drops…by the way I could not find the direct answer even searching the web…
Coop loot is shared, FFA loot. If someone picks it up first it’s theirs.
Stash wise, they did add multiple shared stash tabs.
D2/D2:LoD and D2R has free for all loot (FFA). If a good item drops in an 8 player game, the first person to click on the item gets it. As you can imagine, this leads to misbehavior (bots/pickit cheats), ninja looting, etc…
D3 has personal/instanced loot which means that you are the only one in the multiplayer game that sees a drop that is assigned to you and no other player can collect that drop.
Likely why I will play my main in single player, not fighting over loot.
Same, I will only be playing single player too. Multiplayer for certain classes is now Dead on Arrival for this game. You can’t compete with melee as range or sorcerer bots on picking up loot.
