D2 LoD Remaster

Really hoping for this announcement! I think it would be a great decision on blizzards part because if diablo4 is not for everyone, atleast the fans can go back to something they loved. The people that do like d4 can play it. Most true fans will play both but atleast there will be a choice and both will still bring in good money.

And what pray tell is that?

It’s sort of like a true Scotsman

I’ve been under the impression that a D2 remaster was already in the works for a while now. Hasn’t this been confirmed already? Or maybe I just remember wrong.

Pretty much from articles by Kotaku (forget if that is how you spell it) classic games hired a large amount of individuals I believe in 2017 to work on the project.

Who really knows regarding that though, most sources that talked about it are 50/50 with their information.

You know. If they do indeed do a Diablo 2 Remastered, with Lord of Destruction, I kind of hope they would continue supporting it. Add another expansion. Add two more expansions. Just keep adding them. Diablo 2 was great and I’d love if they remastered it and continued to support with with more expansions, so long as the core gameplay isn’t drastically altered.

I want the remaster for a multitude of reasons, but two stand out:

1 - I want people to experience what good Diablo itemization is.
2 - I want people to realize that though it was great at one time, that time is in the past, and it will simply not be as appealing as many think!

I’m not going to argue with this point. I’ll simply say, I haven’t come across a game that was as good of an ARPG. Diablo 3 is fun for what it is, and if it didn’t use the Diablo name or butcher the Diablo lore, I’d probably enjoy it, but I’d still find Diablo 2 more interesting.

Downloading Path of Exile now. People suggested it so I’m going to give it a try. Looks genuinely interesting.

If you like D2, you are going to love PoE, and by the way it sounds, D4 as well! We will find out in a short 26-27 hours!!!

Man I cannot wait, even if the announcements are not Diablo, which would floor me, that means there are still 2 other mystery announcements. This is going to be a great Blizzcon!

Oh, just so you know, GGG who made Path of Exile is having Exilecon in November as well, I believe on November 15th domestically. They are going to be discussing their next big patch, as well as their next league! So if Diablo news disappoints anyone, they need to follow up with this!

Not children who don’t know anything about the history of Blizzard games. Aka casuals who don’t matter. Nothing wrong with them, their criticism and reviews are just worth less. Like, omg Pixar-- I mean Overwatch is SO FUN! And, oh there’s nothing wrong with the cartoon Diablo 3, my six-year-old cousin and I love to slay demons together! Let’s buy stuff on our phones!

I’m not just making fun here, I mean it. These young casual fans are not reliable long term fans. They don’t know and don’t care about what these franchises are at their core. They’re trend setting, not trend following. They’re unique in style and artistic. Millions of people have been playing Diablo 1 and 2 for many years, and they didn’t find what they wanted in Diablo 3, and certainly won’t in Diablo phone edition, and are leaving for a reason.

Okay rant over.

One thing I hope Blizzard understands is that if they give us D2R, they will have a lot more flexibility on D4. They’d be able to take more chances and try to innovate because there would be D2R to fall back on for a classic hack and slash

If it wasn’t still appealing people wouldnt play tons of private servers and botnot resets to this day, d3 is a decent game but still has nothing on d2lod and thats fact regardless if your a d3 fanboy or not, most of the people bashing on d2 havent even played the game enough to realize what it is. If your someone that plays a game only for a campaign and never really immerse yourself into the endgame systems then your opinions would be altered. It also depends if you like rewarding and diversity style endgame or if you want 15 legendarys specifically for your class everytime you do the one thing there is to do (rifts)

It is actually not a fact, I will try to find the article but I believe there was something like 9,500 unique users in the last D2 ladder, where there is around 135k unique users playing D3.

A lot of this is due to it being global and cross platform, but the fact is that a lot of people still play what many say is a dead game.

Not sure why people like yourself think it is fitting to bash individuals that like D3? There is a world where everyone can get what they want, and if you do, I hope you stop trolling these forums, it would be appreciate by a lot of people.

Obviously a newer updated game is gonna have more people. Oh and also I said across private servers and such, even single player not just botnet resets so the number is a lot larger than that. As you said there are way more platforms to play it on, doesn’t mean its an amazing game. Just because somethings easy to play, pick up and put down, appeals to children and casual gamers don’t mean its a great game. Take PoE for example it blows D3 out of the water but its still behind in graphics n such but has actual endgame tons of diversity and hard content. I start a d3 season get max level first night, do my season journey get my op 6 set jump to tier 13 difficulty farm some rifts and grs and i push 100+ in one week and the games boring. What else is there to do its way too easy and depthless.

This is pure opinion though, because the numbers do not back it up for PoE either.

I think the moral of the story is that everyone likes their own thing, and there is nothing wrong if people like something either of us do not like.

Still does not give reason to come in and bash other players calling them fanboys etc…

The game is so easy, but I would be shocked if you have ever cleared above a GR120 or placed respectably in a GR. Or for that matter, even under stand proper gearing mechanics and what to phish for?

Which is fine, but to say something is easy, and yet having no experience in what you are bashing is a bit arrogant and troll like.

First off whats wrong with being called a fanboy lol… Im a fanboy of diablo2 obviously. Ive played d3 on and off since vanilla release, I easily have over 1500 hours into the game and ive placed within top 300 of leaderboards months into seasons right since the first couple, Im also well aware how to gear and stat etc. I don’t just make up stuff for no reason. The highest GR ive done is about 104 a couple seasons ago and thats simply because of the fact that running rifts and grs over and over and over with boring loot and thousands of paragon levels is very uninteresting. Still this is all my opinion but it seems to be a very popular one. I just dont understand how someone can think d3 is so good, its not a awful game but it was a huge stepdown from the previous game.

There are 14,000 users playing right now on the deadest realm–US West–which is the deadest time of the ladder season. When ladder resets in December there will be 200k, if the remaster is announced there will be 1 million+ playing because of the hype. This is not an attack on D3, just correcting some numbers.

I’d be highly entertained if they didn’t announce D4 and D2 Remastered and announced D3 Remastered instead.

Something something watch the world burn.

I think it would be great if they remastered it, but they should not waste any additional time or resources on it, it was not that great.
