Would you like a custom map mode for D3? You can create maps on your own, like Starcraft II’s map editor and their arcade mode. You get to play all the community maps.

Well, I think there is merit in your idea, but it would be a first for Blizzard. I imagine it would need to have been part of the game design planning so for D3 probably not possible. But I’m no coding guru…

Like they would risk letting anyone do a far better job than them, in Diablo anyway.

Yep, just look what happened with WCIII’s editor.
Imagine what could be done with this beautiful (albeit, old) engine.

People would only ever play the custom maps designed for maximum GR clears, which means something like the battlefields map + dense skeleton mobs. Plus if it was possible, people would just place a power shrine on every shrine spawn point. Most maps or enemy types would be ignored… overall it would take away from the RNG element of rift generating too much and destroy the variety available. Sorry but it’s a bad idea.

I knew someone would say that. All i can think is; why are they playing a game that features RNG so heavily and has it as one of it’s core design concepts?
Playing this game while hating it’s RNG is like eating ice-cream but complaining that it’s so cold.

No that’s not accurate.
People play this game to have fun. Not for RNG. I know zero players who play this game because they want RNG.
On the contrary, I know a lot of players who would jump on this game if there’s a custom map mode like what Starcraft II has.

I didn’t say anything about people playing for the RNG, i was saying that this game is designed to be strongly based upon it. A custom map maker in this game would be the same as if Blizzard released an offline version of World of Warcraft; it would be beyond illogical.
If blizzard ever released anything for Diablo 3 akin to warcraft 3’s world editor, I would be beyond stoked. Most of my time with warcraft 3 was spent in world editor. It’s an amazing program.

Yeah… Warcraft 3’s world editor is fun! Used to spend a long time looking for fun maps to play.
I’d create some really fun maps if they have a custom map mode for d3.
