Cursor Locked in Fullscreen

I can’t seem to find this anywhere else. I haven’t had this issue until today. I did just update my NVIDIA graphics driver, but don’t know how this would affect it… I logged into the game and the cursor is locked to the game window, which is not selected in the menu options (it is an option for those who prefer it, but I do not - I find it terribly inconvenient, as I switch between windows frequently). If it makes a difference, I play on a laptop (Acer Nitro 5?), and run the game in a larger 2nd monitor, using that as primary window due to the game having issues deciding which window to populate in. (I also can’t get the game to run in anything but fullscreen, I’m assuming due to the multi-monitor situation, but I’ve given up on that battle.)

Fullscreen mode always use the primary display, I think.

To switch to other screen mode (Fullscreen/Windowed/Windowed(Fullscreen)),
ESC > Options > Video > Display

Not what you want but fyi, you can choose “Lock Cursor” option for Windowed(Fullscreen) mode.

Yeah, when I try any of those options for changing the screen mode, it minimizes and won’t let me finalize the choice, so it reverts back to fullscreen after the allotted time. So I’ve given up on that fight as I haven’t found a solution and it doesn’t bother me that much. I am aware that you can choose to lock the cursor. That option is definitely deselected. I don’t know how unlock it whilst the option is deselected, unfortunately, hence the topic creation. I do appreciate your reply.

It should prompt for confirmation if you change screen mode.
Don’t know why yours minimizes.

You may try edit the preferences file “{Document}\Diablo III\D3Prefs.txt” manually.
Backup the file, just in case. (The game will recreate it with default values if it is lost. So, don’t worry.)

Edit the line:

DisplayModeWindowMode “2”

I think 0=Fullscreen, 1=Windowed, 2=Windowed(Fullscreen)

Edit:

Perhaps it was caused by wrong resolution or refresh rate settings. Make sure they are compatible with your monitors. Most of monitors support refresh rates 60Hz. Some support higher rates, e.g. 100Hz, 120Hz, etc.

May be you can try resetting in-game options first:

Well, somehow that has worked, even though the resolution was at the same setting it’s been reset to. And putting it at windowed (fullscreen) at least fixes the weird cursor locking problem for me. Thanks!
