What is up with Cursed Peat Quest spawn rates. Over 300 logs and still no cursed peat. Blizard could you please do something about this, if you expect us to do it for a conquest please bump up the spawn rate for the quest or make all the cursed chests capable of pumping out 350 to 500 mobs.
The bounty for cursed peat is fairly rare, but the chest is there far more often. If you speed run the map, you should find it in far less than 300 restarts. You can also use Cursed Bellows in A1 and I think it is Cursed City in a5 to complete it.
I do agree with you that most the cursed chests are useless for this conquest and need some fixing.
Unfortunately random is random. Did close to 60 restarts yesterday…no Cursed Peat. Then I logged out for the final time in order to increase difficulty so I can keep farming to complete my Wastes set…Cursed Peat is a bounty in that session right there.
Needless to say I wasn’t fully equipped for it, got about 230 kills. It also spawned in HC once while I was levelling my toon for the GR75 conquest…also wasn’t fully equipped. Got around 220 kills.
@DJAetius,
The thing to do when finding the Cursed Peat chest with no DH to do the quest, just get on General chat in game and ask for a DH to help you get quest.
This works well.
That doens’t work for a lot of us that like to solo. Thankfully you have at least two choices for this conquest. Cursed Peat and Cursed Bellows. If you have a build that can stand in the very center of the area and continuously spray the cellar with AoE nonstop for the duration of the event, The Cursed Cellar in Act 1 can also work, but it’s a really close pinch on the timer with that one. Bellows is much easier to do.
Are you talking about SSF?
If you just play solo mostly it is fine to get on general chat and ask for DH help for quest.
Those of us that play solo, play solo. We’re not interested in grouping. Ever.
I don’t do General Chat or clans or communities.
I did it with a WW/Rend Barb. Just change the rune to Hurricane (cold) which pulls mobs in from 35 yards away, spin in front of the chest and every mob that spawns gets pulled in.
Just to be clear, the event will spawn in the Paths of the Drowned without it being a Bounty, and there is only one large event that spawns there, so if you see the Burning Man, or Lord of the Hill (same structure as the Cursed Peat) or Lord of Fools (the sinking castle in the marsh), then turn right around and restart.
The Cursed Peat will usually spawn right at the foot of the steps of the waypoint, but it can spawn in any location, so check the map until you find one of these larger events, since one almost always spawns, but on rare occasions you might encounter an empty map.
The keys to beating the challenge are fast kill speed, fast resource regeneration, and good Toughness, especially in Hardcore.
You don’t need to stack much toughness for it in HC. You’ll barely get hit. You really only need enough toughness to not get one-shot.
The only dangerous part is running to the chest, between the ground pools and bogans. If I feel like I’m pushing it a bit on being able to clear it, I run a fast, tanky build to hunt the chest, then once I find it I climb to the top, port to town, and swap builds to my build to clear it. You can do things like drop your movement skill for more DPS (if you have a suitable way to gain DPS by dropping in another buff in place of teleport etc.). But yeah, you really shouldn’t need too much toughness, because you’ll barely get hit. Once you get to the top of the stairs, you should be pretty safe. It’s just the ground pools that will really get you while you are hunting the chest.
not worried about toughness soloed it a couple seasons ago with my necro. Just finding it is a pain in the butt that took over 100 restarts to get it. Can someone please tell me where does the cursed bellows spawns
A1 halls of agony and it can be a bounty.
Are you trying to get it as bounty? Cause 2 people already gave you enough info to work with. While farming certain event through popping it as bounty is the easy way, this one is not really the case. I don’t think I ever saw it as bounty, but found it fairly easy (less than 10 restarts I believe) through searching the map.
Anecdotal, sure, but as already mentioned, Path of the Drowned only has one big event. If the bounty is one of the 3 mentioned above, restart. If you come across one of the 2 mentioned above while searching the map, restart, if you found the hill, it can either be Lord of the Hill or Cursed Peat, so go to the top to check.
I did it with Aether Walker wiz. If you have some Dashing Stike items use it to navigate the map fast.
You don’t have to go to the top of the hill. If there is a Unique near the first set of stairs, it is Lord of the Hill. Restart game.
I did the cursed peat today to complete the season journey. It never spawned as a bounty and took about an hour to find after numerous restarts and scouting.
Just a quick post to dispel disinformation.
You can not complete the Curses!/Stars Align Conquest with the Cursed City event in Act 5. This is a 5-wave event, and once it’s over, it’s over. There is no way to kill 350 monsters at this event.
So I would also be suspicious of the suggested Cursed Bellows, though more monsters do spawn, and it’s not a ‘wave-based’ event, I have never killed more than about 270 monsters there.
Trust me on this, I was able to clear this with my friend. We were 2 DH and cleared the conquest (Stars Align) in this cursed chest event. This will also depend on your damage as we were just in the nick of time to kill 350.
Done this solo with a Foh/Blessed Ground Heavens Fury Sader easily.
Like the others mentioned, you do not have to restart all the time to look for the bounty as it can spawn outside the bounty.
Just because you’ve never done it doesn’t mean it’s impossible.
I’ve done it solo with a wizard on Cursed Bellows. Was getting frustrated getting Cursed Peat to spawn in S18 so tried it on a whim on Cursed Bellows. Got it first try in HC, wasn’t expecting to get it so I didn’t record it or screenshot it. Still regretting not capturing it, I usually like to record stuff like this just so I can post it to disprove naysayers.
I tried it again in SC that season, had a bunch of attempts between 345 and 348 that I screenshotted. Ended up getting Cursed Peat to spawn so gave up trying to repeat my Cursed Bellows success.
But the screenshots below should at least suggest that it’s possible. If I can do it on solo wizard, which is significantly worse than DH for Curses/Stars Align, a UE DH really shouldn’t have too much trouble.
Is Cursed Peat easier? Yes, absolutely. There’s a reason it’s almost always used.
But sometimes you struggle to get it to spawn. After an hour of scouring Paths of the Drowned maps with a speed build, you start to consider alternatives.
Or sometimes you just want to add a challenge because you are bored of doing the same set of conquests over and over and it’s getting kinda easy. So you mix it up. Solo Sprinter on all 7 classes? Sign me up. Solo Curses/Stars Align with a wizard using a chest other than Cursed Peat? Sign me up.
