Alright, it’s clear that this set is under-performing, but have no fear, I have an idea on how we can make it better AND super fun to play!
There’s a couple issues with the current version of this set, notably the lack of shield/bracers that synergize with FoTH; And the underwhelming 2pc bonus which effectively does nothing. (I assume the 3s internal cooldown on the 2pc is to prevent lag spam with the fissure rune.)
My suggestion would be to add a second skill to the set, and to add Fist of The Heavens to an existing shield/bracer combo. Heaven’s Fury, and it’s respective gear.
Bracers of Fury : Heaven’s Fury deals [300 - 400]% increased damage to enemies that are Blinded, Immobilized, or Stunned.
Shield of Fury : Each time an enemy takes damage from your Heaven’s Fury, it increases the damage they take from your Heaven’s Fury by [25 - 30]%. (Crusader Only)
I propose that we add Fist of the Heavens to these two items, or at least add it to the shield so they can share stacks/dmg buffs to build-up to lovely numbers. To avoid trivializing this set with Legacy of dreams, I’d recommend we add these bonuses through the 2pc and 6pc effects on Aegis of Valor.
To be honest, we probably don’t need FoTH to be added to the bracers, but if it were added to the shield’s effect through the 6pc (or 2pc) it could add some really cool combinations with Heaven’s Fury.
This change would fill all the required gear slots, you could wear the shield of Fury/Bracers of Fury, you’d cube the Fate of The Fell and wear Darklight. You might end up running the Holy rune (Retribution) on FoTH instead of fissure to double dip on the holy Dmg from bracers/neck/Holy Cause passive, which would probably be less lag-intensive than running Fissure.
This might be too much work to make happen, so alternatively the 2pc bonus really needs a rework; Possibly removing, or especially lowering the internal cooldown of it’s proc. One extra FoTH cast every 3s is effectively not much damage at all.
Yea those changes look pretty cool too, I’d love to see some integrations with Heaven’s Fury and Fist of The Heavens and this set could definitely be the place to start the ball rolling.
100% agree with this. It would be cool if you had to micro manage something with the set instead of mind-numbing FOH spam. But at the very least, this should be a thing.
This idea is gaining popularity. When i actually saw the transmogs of the set, it made complete sense.
As someone who appreciates the build and guide you made for Akkhan Lazy Shotgun I think we ultimately want the same thing. With Heaven’s Fury on this set there should be 4 major modes of play:
Pure FotH (which means buffs to Darklight and Khassett’s Cord – right now combining it with the Norvald Set is the front runner for push performance)
Pure CDR Heaven’s Fury (Fate of the Fell, Shield of Fury, Ivory Tower & Bracer of Fury)
Pure Spender Heaven’s Fury RGK (Any Weapon, Fate of the Fell, Shield of Fury, Bracer of Fury)
Hybrid FotH and CDR Heaven’s Fury (Darklight, Fate of the Fell, Shield of Fury, Khassett’s Cord, Bracer of Fury)
We know with certainty that #2 will hold it’s own against current sader builds, ~GR130.
Let’s assume #1 happens because it needs to. Darklight and Khasset’s Cord get buffed by 12GRs and the effective solo power of this build reaches GR130. When you strip off Norvald’s items to make the Hybrid #4 (FotH’s power gets reduced and the build maxes out at GR125) If AoV Heaven’s Fury without Ivory Tower is introduced, using only the HF skill, the build must be able to clear GR125 without the use of FotH. I don’t think this will happen, but if it does, a hybrid that includes FotH should achieve GR130, ie doubled damage offsetting Norvalds, thus making #1, #2 and #4 balanced.
Tinkering with Heaven’s Fury items might be necessary because the best FotH rune is Fissure (lightning) and the best Heaven’s Fury runes are holy. Also, the difference in power could be offset by the hybrid version not needing to equip Bane of the Stricken.
So how do we strengthen CDR Heaven’s Fury without Ivory Tower? The answer could be in the Darklight affix. Which could also do the same thing as Fate of the Fell by doubling the beams of Heaven’s Fury. (it doesn’t give a % damage mod to heaven’s fury, it just doubles the beams – btw Darklight cannot fit in #2, but it can fit in #3 and #4)
I’m all in on this – i think it would be very positive for the Crusader.
Pretty much what has been said here. The new set, as it is, won’t see much usage. It’s already a shame that there were no bracers and/or shield in the list of set items, which would have made a lot of sense as it would open up very interesting combinations.
Please take the opportunity that the PTR brings in rethinking the set. FotH is a cool skill that most Crusader fans would like to use, but the current implementation is not good nor fun to play.
please don’t create a new set item…put it on some useless existing shield piece…
ie: craftable shields or existing bracers…
expecting to reduce wrath cost to cast with set. Blessed shield is an idea. Draft something similar within those parameter, but not identical to BS’s buff.
I am hoping aside Fist of H, it will also buff Phalanx…so, this set makes more variable builds…
Hate to see one set buffs mostly one type of skills.
i really like the idea about smacking a resource reducer on the set, even with the belt you still get wrath starved.
Hellskull is a under used item, it could it could be recycled for this set, or add on a Legendary affix to apply to FotH, and tweak a two hander for FotH. FotH has somewhat lower dmg % on most of the runes, Fissure and Retribution is really the only logical runes you can run as is. So the added benefit of using a two hand would improve the dmg.
Following what has been said already, Phalanx, Laws, Heavens Fury would fit with the theme really. It would open up new and interesting ideas. And utilize underused skills. I know Shotgun-sader is still somewhat relevant. Different playstyle however.
I agree that the set is completely undertuned but adding too many support legendaries is not fun, It’s cool to have some builds with flexible slots for a change.
