if for some reason the world falls apart, and internet stops. Is there any possible way we can get an offline mode for Diablo 3 PC, PS4 and switch?
I understand this might be hacked or whatever the reason is, but look, man it would be nice to have one game that we can play when the world shuts down.
like, i’ll get the word of all the hackers not to mess with it.
There are plenty of games that work without the internet. Also the internet isn’t going to shut down. This isn’t the zombie apocalypse.
Also I believe only the PC version requires a constant connection for all modes. I think the console versions can be played offline in non-seasonal mode already.
Correct (partially). You have to have an active Internet connection to connect to the console servers for D3, but game saves are still local, which sucks…
What the OP wants will never happen. Most of the serious console players are pushing for online saves for seasons, to stop the rampant cheater (botting on xbox 1 now, dashboard reforge exploit (both console platforms), save wizard online character editor for ps4 etc).
I’m sick and tired of seeing players with 6 or 8 primals for their build by day 2…not getting punished by Blizzard and removed from the LBs for obvious cheating. Not just primals, but perfect primals, with the right rolls. save wizard gives you unlimited mats for reforging and upgrading…all you need is time and patience and some cheating effort.
This virus is no where near the end of the world that most believe will come (religious and non religious). This is just a bad pandemic that has the be handled and it will. It will just take time to do so.
This is not a justification for offline mode support. Plus all consoles that I know of have offline mode so that is your saving grace right there.
If we get to the point of internet collapsing, electrical grid failing, and supply chains breaking down, you will be too busy building a fire-pit in your living room to care whether you can play a video game…
I think Diablo 2 is the only game by Blizzard that you can still buy that doesn’t require an internet connection.
If you’re going to prepare yourself with D2 as an offline game I suggest including the expansion Lord of Destruction, GoMule for muling between characters and Sven’s Glide Wrapper for better appearance and smoother game play.
While I’d love an offline D3. I’m pretty sure Wolcen, Grim Dawn, Van Helsing, Torchlight 1+2 and the plethora of non arpg’s available will keep me quite contently occupied.
If you’re worried about the Internet, download some offline games while you can.
All the arpg’s I mentioned above are pretty good games if you haven’t gotten bored of them already.
Now… I just need a PS2 emulator so I can replay the game that made me fall in love with arpg’s… Baldurs Gate - Dark Alliance 1 and 2.
If the internet goes down you’re gonna’ be worrying about where your next meal and sip of water is coming from. Then you’re gonna’ have to figure how to defend that against somone better armed than you. Or, do you plan to play video games while others do this for you?
That’s news to me… last time I played D3 on my Xbox, I could have sworn my Xbox wasn’t connected to the internet. I guess I’d better double-check this.
If things get bad enough that the internet goes down, we’d all be too busy trying to get food and repopulating the human race. Any one doing anything else will die off.
Enjoy S20 guys… In case it’s your last one before having to spend your days hunting.
That all depends on how far the economy goes down. Even if there is another Great Depression I don’t think we will be hit as hard as they last one, at least I do hope so. Personally I don’t see it going that far.
As long as stores can still order things without the internet then we will be just fine. We won’t have to go hunting or anything like that. Sure it might take longer to get the order processed and shipped but it still would get done. There was a time decades ago that businesses did all of that without the help of the internet.
if you just do NS play, you don’t need any Internet connectivity. To do seasons, you have to have Internet connectivity to connect to the D3 LBs (PS4/XBOX servers). Otherwise, you can’t launch your seasonal character. You can join, then pull the network plug and it will stay connected, as long as you don’t log out of/quit the game. But you still need that initial Internet connection, and of course, if you do any GR runs, they won’t appear on the LBs if there’s no Internet connection.
