Controller: "no auto targeting" button to fix Leap/Charge

Using the controller support you can’t use Paladin Charge or Barbarian Leap Attack near enemies just for their utility. It always attacks the monster you’re (auto) targeting instead. I’d like to suggest mapping a button to disable auto targeting. I think it’s too much of a class balance change as it stands. Teleport is the only movement skill that’s usable on controller.

One idea is to map “show items” (left bumper) to also disable auto targeting. So when you hold down the button it allows you to Leap Attack or Charge out of a pack of monsters. Thought maybe that results in odd behaviour when you’ve set “toggle” for showing items.

Another idea is add a skill that you can map for the purpose of disabling auto targeting (when held down). Then we could map it to e.g. right trigger/bumper and use it as a modifier when using skills. Something similar could be added for corpse targeting as well (for Necro).

I had the same thought for holding down L1 for disabling autotarget which also would make firing missiles wherever you want possible. Seems like a super easy thing to implement too…

What could work as well is to have a toggle per skill as to whether it auto targets or does max range in a specified direction, I think Path of Exile does something like that.

One of the features I mentioned should be implemented in my open beta functionality review and closed beta functionality review was a target lock bind. That would help take care of some of the issues with variable range spells and just keeping a target while moving in general.

Hopefully that gets looked into and can be put in shortly after the game is launched, as the game is currently feature locked until then and only bug fixes and tweaking will occur between now and CDN commit date.
