Quick question about these two, if I have Squirt’s necklace in cube, does it stack with the effect of Compass Rose? As in, do I get a total of 200% increased damage? Or do they just count as the same effect and it’s just a 100% bonus either way?
I know they work differently as the compass rose set is 100% until movement and Squirt’s is 100% with taking 50% more damage, but I’m just unsure if they work together in that way or not.
The cube won’t let you double the effect of the SAME item (so two squirt’s necklaces) but that’s the only place it has that kind of effect.
Squirts and Compass Rose are different items; they won’t be canceled.
ah okay, thanks.
I just got the idea of doing this but wanted to ask on here first to see if it would work or not lol.
I’m not a mathematician at heart, but wouldn’t the two risk canceling each other out?
Well, if you assume that they stack multiplicatively as expected; Endless Walk Set doubles your damage while standing still, and Squirt’s Necklace doubles your damage again whilst not taking damage for a sum of 4x multiplier. In theory those two can work perfectly, given that you have extra Kanai’s slot from this Season theme to squeeze a jewelry power.
However, in practice, standing at your position would get you incur damage and cancel the Squirt’s buff instantly, else moving to avoid damage will diminish the weight of Endless Walk. I think it can work at low tier Greater Rifts but as you go higher tiers, this combination would spiral downward if you were to panic, or wouldn’t work in its full potential unless you encounter a Shield Pylon.
Depending on the class and build (like wizard with effective shields) Squirt’s can be up and efficient most of the time even in high GRs and without constant movement.
… and don’t use Stricken gem until killing the rift guardian becomes difficult. The stacking damage from stricken only works on a single monster at the time (until it dies) no matter how big a group you’re fighting.
Yes, separate multipliers, so should give 4x if both active.
If we’re talking about your season wizard that currently is at 4-piece firebirds with a twister build, then you should be able to protect squirts with shields. Your build is a bit all over the place, but that’s normal when still gearing up. Do get rid of the stricken gem though, it’ll do nothing for you up to GR130 at least, probably not even then. Bane of the trapped is what you want there instead.
Just in terms of protecting your shields, I’d swap the force weapon rune on magic weapon to deflection. The sustain shield will help protect and reset the big galvanising ward shield, and you should have way more uptime on squirts, which will be more effective dps than the extra 10% from force weapon. If you’re going fast (which you should), the dominance passive (decide if you want to play ranged or melee, either is fine at this point, and swap out power hungry or audacity accordingly) is another good option for sustain shields, and in particular it procs a lot during your channeling damage cycle, which is when you need it. The bracers almost double all your shields, so that makes it even better to tune the build into more shields.
A lot of rookies make this mistake. It will always be on the top LB boards, but they are pushing and that is what Stricken is for. If you are doing speed content, stuff will die before Stricken can get any significant stacks. Bane of the Powerful is usually a good substitution for speed content.
I did too (many years ago). The text on it is deceptive: Each attack you perform against an enemy
so…
say a wizard with big barrier and teleport blitz (thanks to 4 set of firebird) that only decreases compass rose down to 95 no matter how much I teleport around, it could work?
thanks for all of this advice here lol, I originally meant to go for full firebird with meteor, but I got all the stuff for twister early on and said screw it, going 4 set firebird. It just sucks the 6 set bonus doesn’t work for it lol.
Most classes don’t have much or any shields, and then squirts is very difficult to keep up for long, or at all, which is what naksiloth is talking about. Wizard is the exception though, and most (not all) wizard builds rely on shields to protect squirts for close to full uptime double damage.
Just in case you’re not aware, maxroll is the best place to find guides for builds, including how to make best use of the firebirds set. And they rank them for which are strongest, etc.
Right now, until you get the firebirds 6-set, you’re probably better off removing all of your set bonuses and play twister (use wicked wind rune) with the legacy of dream gem. Once you get the 6-piece firebirds, then you should be able to farm GRs and visions at high enough difficulty to collect pieces for any build you want to go with.
LOD Twister is strong and tanky, but not very mobile. I intend to use one for the Thrill Conquest (GR45 with no Greens).
Yes, it could work, but creating a big barrier would be the issue. Wizards have to keep killing stuff to keep it up and Firebird should give away some key components from a proven build to apply your setup.
For example; traditional Firebird build setup already uses Squirt’s equipped so it can have Unity for doubling their toughness and keep Grand Vizier as an extra at the cube. When you try to equip Traveler’s and toss Squirt’s at the Kanai’s extra slot, that will arrive with the cost of losing constant 50% damage mitigation and at least 2.5x to 5x damage.
I have the 6 set, what I meant was that after learning Twister didn’t work with the 6 bonus, I just kept it at 4 to use the other slots for other legendaries. As I said before, I pretty much got all of the Twister stuff fairly early on and decided to roll with it. (I can already currently do up to t13 as things stand)
Though now that I got a couple pieces (forgot the set name) for slowed time zone, I’m thinking of switching to that once I get enough pieces and just swapping out disintegrate. I’ve used that set before, just forgot it existed until I saw it again lol.
that set (DMO) works great with twister.
you can find guides on maxroll.
I just bowed to the purveyor.
Squirts and CompassR aree different, they won’t be canceled. the power you got on cube has no penalty.
