The latter is for solo while the former is for group right?
Theres no reason to use a defensive passive if your toughness is not the problem whether group or solo.
If you want to help the group defensively with your choice of passive, then of course the group will love you.
As a DPS in group, buffing up DPS and kills faster helps the group more than be more tanky your self if toughness isnt the problem. UW isnt like IP that its not a group toughness buff. It only buffs wiz.
Nope. Not that simple. For solo, roughly 80% of the Wizards are going to run Galvanizing Ward. If you severely outgear the content (or if you are lucky enough to have an IAS/%damage/LoH Chantodos) you might be able to get away with Cold Blooded, EE or Unwavering. I think between EE and Unwavering, EE should be considerably better, but it’s currently bugged and not behaving as it’s supposed too. Unwavering Will is the next best dps choice.
I never really got why people use Unwavering Will as a defensive passive for Vyr’s.
It’s additive with armor/all res % from Energy Armor (35% armor), Vyr4 (150-300% to armor and all res), and Archon skill bonus (150% to armor and all res while in Archon).
So that 20% bonus to all res/armor from Unwavering will is on top of 215% armor/180% to all res while you are out of Archon with 180 stacks, and a whopping 435% armor/400% all res when you are in Archon with 250 stacks. It’s pretty marginal because it’s additive on top of those bonuses.
For toughness, Blur or Galvanizing Ward just make way more sense.
And as a damage bonus, Cold Blooded or EE will have better uptime.
Yes, and it still does. It’s even in the passive description.
If you have fire on your weapon and hit with a cold skill, it applies both a fire and cold EE stack. That’s the way it’s intended to work.
There just may be some issues with Vyr’s Archon not applying EE correctly, particularly as it pertains to the weapon damage type. Cratic and I did some testing on this and saw some strange behavior. We never did nail it down beyond that, it just looked like it wasn’t applying EE as consistently as it should. Other skills still seem to apply it fine.
perfectly described.
100% true.
UW makes no sense in Archon due to that.
If you’re going offensive EE or Cold Blooded is the way to go.
For solo however I would never suggest anyone (other than the very top guys) to go for an offensive passive over a defensive one.
Blur is good with the current Vyr builds used however Galvanizing Ward is almost godlike.
If you know how the shield mechanics work it has the highest utility out of every wizard passive there is with Vyr and Ashnagarrs (yes, even higher value than audacity or evocation).
