Chris Wilson: We have a lot of stuff to announce which we can’t get into any details yet. As you know, BlizzCon will be happening two weeks before ExileCon. If I’m a betting man, one of their announcements might involve a certain Diablo game [and they have been known to provide quality products as well]. Our goal [with our announcements] is to show how our game matches up so people can think about the two products, and to show the best action RPG that we can make. It’s like a classic “David vs. Goliath” story. - PCINVASION
Diablo 4 will undoubtably sell well at launch. Thats a given, unless Blizzard completely botches the PR machine (which I doubt they will).
Its how these two companies retain players that matter. I relish the fact that there is potentially a fight brewing here, because competition is good for us. Even if you dont like PoE, you will want GGG to bring their A game, because that will make Diablo 4 a better game.
Coming soon: Diablo Immortal II.
When first seeing the post I thought he’s going to appear on BlizzCon
They will definitely show the next gen poe on exilecon. I cant wait.
Chris made a lot for the aRPG genre, but he is failing to see how PoE’s engine is making any comparison laughable. He better start working on PoE 2 and don’t waste time with such statements.
Yeah, that’s how I read it at first too.
I anxiously await PoE 4.0. Until then, lost interest in upcoming tower defence league. Also interested in see any news about D4. Blizz be smart and no more facepalm descisioms!!!
I’m thinking and hoping their big POE 4.0 “expansion” will do something like that. POE really needs an engine and graphics update.
On the other hand, I think poe has done a better job at retaining players while diablo spikes very high at launch.
I think their PR machine will be in full force but what concerns me is the level of monetization that will be implemented into the game post launch. If you look at other activision Titles and even Actiblizz titles the monetization is pretty extreme 2nd only to EA. I fear for what this means for D4 where I expect MTX + DLCs + Expacs tbh. I know some will say cosmetics only will be fine then others chime with well QOL and stash/character slots but then we start moving into XP boosts and ready made 70s etc.
I am hoping for the best but I am unfortunately expecting the worst.
Yes, sadly an update to a 15 years old 2D engine can’t achieve any desired effect.
I worry about this too. I hope that Diablo 4 is created as a game first and foremost, and not as a vehicle to deliver monetization.
Monetization, if it must have it, needs to be tacked on at the end of development. Almost as an afterthought. The games foundations cannot be built around it - I dont want another RMAH debacle.
PoE 2 is I think called poe 4.0. And you are right the current one does not look so good, so I definitely expect them to show this, for sure if the great Blizzcon news is about their greatest competitor.
Ever since Chris talked at GOG (mentioned that once they get us in, they do not think much needs to be done - speaking that they put a ton into the initial phase trying to draw in new people, they got our money, onto the next!), the product of POE has turned to pure garbage. Legion was okay, but it destroyed the economy and almost made the game more fulfilling if played SSF now. It is simply too easy to get what you need now, a big boon to PoE was either farming for currency to get your items, or that OMG loot explosion when that elusive item drops for you! That feeling is almost gone now unfortunately.
I hated the drops in PoE. Even worse than in vanila D3. Every single special item that dropped was either garbage or something that already dropped a ton before.
So it’s good to hear that the droprate hs been adjusted just to keep yourself from dying of boredome doing the same grind all over again and getting nothing.
First season I played I had a blast, got a lot of exalts that will get you gear.
Second after that nothing, all sht drops and in that case you are stuck with the crap build that needs special items to support it.
I hope Blizz learn the lesson the professor POE try to teach about Hash&Slash and online A-RPG : C.O.N.T.E.N.T
POE evolve every new season, they put new system, maps, skill etc … they put effort and big content. POE 2.0 will be huge, they will correct their only weakness : The old graphics.
GGG can put effort and content because they get a great monetization system. They can invest in the product … if blizz keep the 1 game + some low quality DLC every year system it will fail again.
POE 2.0 will be huge, they will correct their only weakness : The old graphics.
If the currency drop rate will be as low as it is right now and by currency I mean exalts than I don’t care about POE, I played POE a lot, but the exalt drop rate was horrible for me, only got 2 in 2-3 years of play time, not to mention POE is pretty much pay to win. If you don’t buy lots of stash to store your items you’ll have a hard time in this game…
The stash is the only thing mandatory for POE … 20$ : this is the price of the game. This is so worth it.
How much you will pay Diablo 4 ? 60$ ? A lot of stash my friends.
Quad stash, premium tabs bundle together is more than 20$ unless they changed the price and I doubt anyone will setle with just ONE quad stash tab or just 6 premium tabs. Correct me if I messed numbers with the premium tabs didn’t play POE for a while…
This is how they success selling exa at the backdoor.
