After I had my Necromancer on 70 and had played it a bit. Which I only did, because (as everybody knows ;-)) if one starts fresh in a region and has not done a Greater Rift, one cannot do a Challenge Rift…
Then I created a Wizzard and a Demon Hunter. Started the game with the Wizzard and did the “usual” pre-playing things. Started the DH, did the same, exited.
Did the CR, started the game with the DH, opened the CR cache and collected the stuff. Then I “realized”, that my char was on level 53… Err, how? …And I could not scroll the text up enough in the chat window to see what might have caused this… After that the DH was playable totally normally…
If this is not a bug of some very weird kind, I really like to know how to do that again, because THAT is speeding up the leveling quite a bit…
Were you or your follower wearing Custerian Wristguards? Picking up gold with them grants experience and since CR cache gives some 5 million gold, that gives plenty of XP.
Every season, I do some sort of weird personal side achievement. For one of them, I farmed enough T16 caches to fill my entire stash including character inventory. Made a level 1 character. Put on Custerians that I had GOE’ed with the cube. Opened all the caches, then moved. Instantly went from level 1 to like level 69.7.
Note:
This caused a mass amount of lag opening that many bounty caches and took me 30 minutes to pick everything up, salvage and spend the shards.
I also do not have necro DLC, so if anyone is dumb enough to repeat my experiment, it should be possible to go from 1-70 instantly using only bounty caches and Custerians.
This sounds like a really funny way to get 70. Usually i just level up gem of ease, legacy of dreams, and one of the on hit gems like the poison one and hit 70 in a few minutes but id really like to try this!
Definitely not the most efficient way to do it, but like I said, I pick a weird goal each season. Double bounty bags is a huge boost for anyone willing (dumb enough ) to try it.
Well, it is a bug with Custerians, as it’s only supposed to give 1 XP per gold, and there are ways to change the XP you get from the gold. Level 53 requires roughly 25 million gold, whereas the CR cache only contains 5.1 million gold.
Try it with different classes, alongside being grouped and playing solo, and you’ll notice that some characters get to 53, while others only get to Level 42. Plus, you’ll notice that using Custerians gives you different gold amounts depending on your current level. In other words, the XP amount is not consistent, hence, a bug. But it’s a relatively minor bug that they’ve never really properly fixed.
To Custerian wristguards - add Leorics with Emerald (gives more gold), Hellfire ring, Kymbo’s Gold amulet, Leoric’s Signet ring, Boon of the Hoarder, Goldskin chest.
“Similar” to my “normal” Gold-build I create each season, like this one on the European servers:
Mine has even a higher “gold-rate”! But you can put in more in yours easily… The shoulders and the shield if you “want” to do it with the GR or the CR cache(s). Otherwise: Very nice!!!

Interesting. Not only that I had forgotten about this way of leveling, now I wonder that this is in fact actually buggy according to what you say.
I have been a IT Test Manager for some years in my live and when I started the first project they had given to me, I had documented more than 1000 “new” “unknown” (to them) errors after just one week. A few (<10) were even of the highest risk rate. And hundreds were on the level I would put this one in (if “equality” is not a preference )
Yeah you’ve got that extra 20% from Kymbo’s + an extra 45% (80% vs. 35%) from Devil’s Tongue with the dual wield. And a few more primals, I think have a couple less than perfect GF rolls.
I think if you wanted a bit more you could wear Blackthorne’s Boots + Belt + Pants (or any 2 of 3 + RoRG) each with GF rolls and then get another 25% from the 3p bonus. Wouldn’t want to use the amulet or chest because then you’d lose Kymbo’s/Goldskin, but it’s doable with the other pieces if you get them with GF rolls.
I will point out mine is a fully functional LoD Frozen Orb setup that can clear T16 vaults though!
My gold find outfit is something I’d put into my Inventory before going into a Vault. After you kill Greed, and before you open her chest, you can swap into the +gold find gear, then open her chest, and the amount of gold from the chest is affected by the hero’s +gold find. On an ancient vault, with this gear on, I think I’ve seen over 600 million gold just from the chest. I don’t do anything else with that suit.
Ofc. But where is the fun in that? I really like leveling up fresh chars.
In the past - years ago - I might have asked someone from my clan or my friends list, but nowadays I like to be suprised by the RNG and what useless / useful gear it might throw at me in that phase.
And the Necromancer was way more successful than the Demon Hunter so far. Two useful seasonal weapons vs. one which only “purpose” is, and I am almost at 300 Paragon ;-), it has the best DMG and resource cost reduction.
Waiting for one that matches GoD builts… (Talking about my 2nd account and on the Americas servers, in case someone looks up this profile… )
I did not mean powerleveling - I solely meant doing the Challenge Rift together if you are not permitted to enter Challenge Rift by yourself (it’s when the you are new to a region and have not done any GR on that account there).
Probably I never got asked the last 12 years and until this year I never really started on the old alternate account. But now it is to late anyways…
The DH is 600+ now and only found her first Ramaladnis at 578 paragon.
And with the staff pieces, she is probably the most unlucky ever. I even almost came here to complain and get the froum RNG theory proven again. So far only recipe and rainbow, no mushrom, no stone… But the season is not done yet… And I am not in a hurry…
