Some folks, like me. find Challenge Rifts to be overly difficult and frankly annoying. I am truly miffed that Blizz made it mandatory to complete one in order to complete the Season 28 Alter. Bad form guys!
You’re about four months too late. We’ve heard it all already…
Just wait until you need the staff of herding. Boy howdy - are you in for a treat!
The big difference is that getting the Staff is all about luck, unlike Challenge Rifts, and has nothing to do with skill or ability. That is what makes farming the Staff materials so annoying.
With Challenge Rifts, everyone is on an equal playing field. Everyone uses the same equipment, skills, and faces the same map and monsters. So whether one succeeds or not comes down to player ability. And that is how it should be. So the fact that the OP is complaining about this is pretty laughable. Guess he is part of the “participation trophy” generation and wants everything handed to him on a silver platter.
I thought the fun police had left for D4. But I was wrong.
Last week was some barb build that literally required one button to beat, easily. Maybe just try again next week, might be a better setup for your play style.
I had the season journey completed in the first 4 days; the altar fully unlocked on day 11 CRs are no big deal.
Why do people moan about challenge rifts? You can have a quick test at how your build works before you go in, and usually it’s easy as anything anyway.
If you’re really struggling then just queue up as a group, rather than go in solo. If you don’t have a clue what you’re doing then there’s a good chance the others will. I can’t remember ever failing one of these in a party of four, even when it’s a nightmare build that we’ve been lumbered with.
Just make sure you do it on Monday…
Challenge rifts are “challenging”, who could’ve guessed? If you can not get it right, there’s always the next week though. All you had to do was pressing buttons in an unusual synchronization compared to traditional builds you know, and it will flow eventually. Sometimes you come across very difficult ones and that’s okay.
Challenge rifts are not for everyone. You may not know a crucial method or two to overcome the odds or mellow them out; such as, kiting mobs to a specific location for group up, using small chokes in the map or skipping mobs until you find the right Pylon.
Unless you are really desperate for materials and items, you can safely ignore CRs. Challenge Rifts are just a recovery point when you went overboard and drained all of your materials.
If you are running for them each week, then it’s only expected that you find something seemingly impossible to achieve for you at one point. If you get stuck at CRs very often, either you need to play more different Set Dungeons for practice, or give a break in the hopes of you find something easier next week.
It could be worse. Have you tried riding a crap horse through vast empty landscapes to arrive at a dungeon that requires excessive backtracking and then you get d/c’d from the server at the final boss?
What, no? You haven’t played Lilith yet?
and a season requires you to master a set dungeon, so your point?
I’m confused by this complaint. Usually I do one or two challenge rifts at the start of each season just for the gold and materials to have an easier start. Outside of maybe one or two times where I had some trouble due to a truly awful build that was provided I usually have no trouble completing them in time.
With some it might take 2-3 attempts just because I need to optimize the route but outside of that if you understand the builds then it should be easy to do the challenge rifts.
My only complaint about challenge rifts is something I’ve said many times before: they almost always make zero sense. These “builds” typically have very little or no synergy at all between skill choices and gearing. That means very often you end up doing barely any damage or you have almost no toughness so you get oneshotted constantly. I refuse to believe these are originally actual GR runs made by people, they’re simply too bizarre for that. It’s just no way in hell possible they’re real. They must be AI generated.
They certainly fit the description of “Challenge Rift”. Doesn’t change the fact they’re utter crap. At least they’re generally doable.
You are forgetting the golden rule
Never underestimate the human capacity of being stupid
Haven’t you ever heard of those people that do whacked out things just to see if it’s doable
I know there are such people and I know at least one CR that was a such case. EU CR 36, that was the very infamous Wudijo’s FoK DH run with (almost) all rare gear. It was not only really challenging, it relied heavily on RNG. All damage was done in bursts and you had to pray that all bursts were crits.
Typically when a new CR becomes available, the CR leaderboard quickly fills up entries, even with crappy CRs. The EU CR 36 was successfully completed by only 56 people in total if I remember correctly. They can sometimes be too whacked out.
Yeah, I tried the Necromancer a couple weeks ago and failed several times. Then the Tal Rasha Wizard one came up and I passed it first try. Since that’s basically the Wizard I’m playing.
I recommend trying it this week. It’s very easy because the build they picked is a good build with gear and good legendary gems and passives
Cannot say I’ve had the pleasure yet. I am still ambling through vast empty landscapes on foot.
Plenty of You Tube guides every week on how to complete them.
