Challenge Rift Questions

It seems that there is only one CR whether you are using a SC or HC character, and it’s SC, so I guess if you have a HC character you can’t die in the rift and the goodies are available to your HC character? Is that right?

The Challenge Rift reward cache can be collected on any hero, in any mode, that existed prior to the Challenge Rift being completed.

This is why, if you plan on playing Season 20, you shouldn’t do this week’s Challenge Rift until Friday and you’ve created your seasonal hero so you can collect and use the cache on your seasonal hero.

Yeah, I’m waiting until the new season starts. But what happens if you start with a HC character and then die in the rift? You can resurrect, I suppose?

Yes. Dying in the Challenge Rift doesn’t kill your HC character. And you are free to resurrect within the challenge rift. Doesn’t matter what character you enter the challenge rift menu from, it still functions the same. Only thing is that you have to have a seasonal character created when you run it if you want to claim it in seasons, but it looks like you already know that.

(also, dying in Set Dungeons doesn’t kill your HC character)

OK, thanks…
ETA: to post with less than 20 characters just use dots…

To answer your question:
The CR rewards are give to the hero that started the CR.
The CR is always SC based.

If all your hero’s are HC, it still has nothing to do with running the SC CR, other than receiving the rewards upon successful completion.

For some reason, this concept seems to confuse a lot of people. The challenge rift has nothing at all to do with your own characters. Absolutely nothing.

Who’s confused? I looked at the CR in both SC and HC and found it the same.

But there is nothing to stop there being a SC and a HC CR.

It is strange. SC and HC are generally separate, except for CR and season journey, of course. I’ve always thought that here should be separate season journeys for SC and HC, so you can do it twice.

Apparently, you are.

Again, the Challenge rift has nothing to do with your characters. Whether your characters are normal or HC is irrelevant.

Which just proves my point that you don’t understand what a challenge rift is.

I wish that was true Scourge-2455.
Unfortunately there is only one reward available for completing a CR a week per account.

If you have multiple accounts then you can get rewards for each upon completion.

Nope. The reward cache can be collected by any of your heroes that existed prior to the Challenge Rift being completed. It literally doesn’t matter which hero you selected prior to completing the Challenge Rift.

Right, any account that completes CR can have any hero on that account open the bag.
Just like the haedrig gift, same thing.

For Clarification

Challenge Rifts

  • You are NOT playing ANY of YOUR Characters. Not on Normal, Hardcore, Season or non-Season.

  • You ARE playing a Character and build created by SOMEONE ELSE, at some point in time.

  • Blizzard has taken a snapshot of a Greater Rift that was run by that player with that Character build. We get that player’s Character, their exact Greater Rift and the exact Maps and monsters. The time it took them to successfully complete that Greater Rift is also recorded.

When we run a Challenge Rift, we are using that player’s Character, not ours. The goal, to successfully complete the Challenge Rift, is to match or beat the original player’s time. If we can do that, we are rewarded a Challenge Rift Cache. The Challenge Rift Cache is sent to your ACCOUNT through your in-game mail.

Important!

You can only collect a Challenge Rift Cache In a Game Mode where at least ONE CHARACTER ALREADY EXISTS.

Most players have Normal and Hardcore Characters in non-Season. They can run a Challenge Rift anytime during the week. They can collect their Challenge Rift Cache with a Normal non-Season Character or a Hardcore non-Season Character.

At the beginning of a NEW SEASON, no one has ANY Seasonal Characters. If you wait until Friday and run this week’s Challenge Rift after the Season starts, but before you create (or Rebirth) your Seasonal Character: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COLLECT YOUR CHALLENGE RIFT CACHE WITH YOUR SEASONAL CHARACTER. You’ll only be able to collect it with your non-Season Characters, Normal or Hardcore.

If you wait until Friday, after the Season starts, create your Seasonal Character and then run this week’s Challenge Rift you can collect your CR Cache with:

  • Your Normal non-Season Character.*
  • Your Hardcore non-Season Character.*
  • Your Normal Season Character.*
  • Your Hardcore Season Character.*

Note: A new Challenge Rift starts every Monday at 2:00 PM PDT (Blizzard time).

*If one already exists.

Good luck, have fun and good hunting!

So change it, that’s all. You’re the one who seems unable to understand what I said.

Not true.

In order to do the CR that account has to have leveled to 70 and done at least one greater rift.

How does what you said disprove what Perusoe said?

You could have a level 70 softcore hero that’s done GRs and a level 1 hardcore hero. This means your softcore hero allows you to do the Challenge Rift but you could collect the reward cache on your hardcore hero (which isn’t level 70 and has never done a GR).

I know many ppl that decided to do the Asia CR when their mains are Euro or NA.

They can’t unless they have an Asia 70 having done a gr.
If they just have a lvl 1 hero on Asia they can’t.

So I was right and Perusoe wrong.

You’re describing the criteria for obtaining a cache.
Perusoe was describing the criteria for collecting a cache.
They’re not the same thing.

The operative word here is “COLLECT”. You do not have to be Character Level 70 or have successfully completed a Greater Rift to “collect” a Challenge Rift Cache from your in-game mail.

But, it’s true, I could have added a note that only Level 70 non-Season Characters that have successfully completed a Greater Rift can participate in a Challenge Rift. I could have also added that Challenge Rifts are locked for non-Season Characters until at least one of them successfully completed a Greater Rift.

But, I was not trying to write a “book” on Challenge Rifts. I was merely trying to clarify these points:

In Challenge Rifts…

  • You are not playing YOUR Characters, so you don’t have to worry about dying.
  • If you successfully complete a Challenge Rift you can collect the Cache with any Character on your Account.
  • You must create a new Seasonal Character before running the Challenge Rift if you want to start the Season with a good boost of currency.

Wow! I wish I had read your last 2 posts before typing all the stuff above.

But, now that I’ve typed it, I’m gonna post it anyway.

No they are not!

As I stated above.

I have several friends that are Euro or NA that decided to start a new season in Asia or Euro for first time that never played in those regions and they were unable to play the CR at Season begin.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE A LVL 70 HAVING DONE A GR ONE TIME IN ORDER FOR THE ACCOUNT TO DO THE CR AND COLLECT ONE.
