At the Altar of Rites there is the “next offering” Challenge Rift Cache to unlock the next seal.
It turns out that in all the years I’ve played this game I’ve NEVER been able to finish a Challenge Rift.
I don’t play at a high level, my highest Rift must have been around 120.
I play all classes in the season, equip them and see the ones I like the most to play until the end of the season. I don’t grind a lot. Just having fun playing the game.
So for me it’s discouraging to have something like this keep me from experiencing this season fully.
Is there anything I can do to overcome this and continue to enjoy the game?
For the most part, Challenge Rifts are easy. Some are extremely easy. I suggest going to the web and search out the current Challenge Rift video guide. There are a ton of them out there. Maxroll.gg is a good source. Don’t give up. If you’ve done 120 GR, you know enough to finish a Challenge Rift, which most are in the T16 range or lower.
Youtube is your friend. Search for something like: diablo 3 challenge rift 298 na
(na if your region is America, and next week will be 299 instead of 298)
Usualy the challenge rift is no problem, its not at high level, you dont need to grind for it, the map is always the same so you can learn where the pylons are and learn from you mistakes etc. And like others said there are guides on youtube
An easy way to cheese CRs if you can’t figure out the build is to play pub and hope some people join that can carry you.
The build (which changes tomorrow anyway) isn’t that bad - you just walk around and left click meteors onto everything, and then when it is an elite, you right click.
Yeah - forget about the Altar and just do the season journey. Otherwise, nope, gotta do it. As said, they aren’t usually too difficult. Some can be challenging but there are vidoes out there showing what to do. Can try as many times as needed. And whatever you do, DON"T OPEN IT! Don’t right click it, move it around in your inventory, etc. Go straight to the Altar and sacrifice it.
Yes I saw videos on youtube but it doesn’t work. I die very easily. This altar factor will make me lose interest in playing.
I also tried this Mystix tip “you just walk around and left click meteors onto everything, and then when it is an elite, you right click.” but it didn’t work.
How is it possible that people manage to beat a time record with a class where that record was beaten by someone who played from the beginning for days.
If I can’t get through the next one 299 it’s over for me.
The first thing you must do is unlearn everything you have learned in this game.
Do not try to figure the builds out, they will not make sense.
They will always be extremely squishy because a large chunk of the player base does not understand damage mitigation.
Many of the skills chosen are completely useless for the build.
Best trick is to find the biggest boom button on the build, run to an elite and hit boom. Don’t worry about trash mobs. Don’t worry about using all the skills. I only do CRift on season start and I have successfully button mashed my way to victory on the first try on every single one of them.
Another trick I use is to walk through the GR to find where all the pylons are, the elites are, and the exit to the maps are. Don’t worry about finishing it. Just learn where these things are and it will give you a strategy on which route to take.
Others mentioned it already, but I can confirm that an easy way to cheese a ‘squishy’ challenge rift is to join a public game. Even if you die a few times, it does not matter, the other players will carry you. Just try to do a bit of damage while you live and everything will be fine.
The first map is pretty rough but it’s short. It’s easier on the second map.
The trick to the first map is when you go down from the entrance, cast Black Hole as soon as you see the first mobs. It’ll pull them away from. Then cast Meteor. (Be sure to active Magic Weapon and Storm Armor as soon as entering the map.
If you see poison clouds wait for them to clear. When you turn to the right and see the that sand door and mobs, cast meteor again and again wait for the poison cloud to disipate.
Then turn right again and go down to the next floor. (Take your time on the first map and you should be fine.)
On the second map, there’ll be no poison clouds so it’ll go faster. You won’t need Black Hole as often, but you’ll want to cast it occasionally along with Electrocute and Meteor.
If you kill most things, the boss should spawn on the third floor.
It took me a few a tries because I’m a really bad wizard player. I would restart every time I died. After about the 5th to 7th attempt, I finally made it to the 3rd floor without dying and killed the boss with a few seconds left.
But again, take your time on the first map. I hope this helps.
Its impossible not to finish a CR. Identify your own problems and solve it. Skill bindings can be changed, change them to your liking. Altar is super easy to unlock.
Even if you’re not a “high level player,” if you can complete GR120 you have enough general knowledge to complete a “good” challenge rift.
This one is, emphatically, NOT a “good” one. It is a very not good one.
No legendary gems, improperly geared follower, bad skill setup. If I were an optimist I’d say it was just a troll, someone going “how bad can I make a build and still clear a GR” but unfortunately I’m a pragmatist. I see beyond the veil, and know this is probably someone who is either very young, or very not caring about how to “properly” play D3 (and those categories aren’t mutually exclusive).
My best advice? Wait until a new one shows up. This one is garbo.
I had the same problem , here is how i found a solution, you can do it multiplayer, and I got two GREAT Clan members to go in with me and help me out, to be truthful, they did 99% of the work, we did the rift and i was able to get past that part of the alter, i myself have only done it 1 time in 5 years by myself, just keep moving in the rift and go for it, GOOG LUCK
Yes, you overcome it by attempting and succeeding at a challenge rift. Is this a rhetorical question? There are plenty of challenge rift guides available for each week, though you often don’t need it because the timer bar is very generous.
If you have solo cleared a GR 120, then 99%+ of challenge rifts should pose no challenge (no pun intended) at all, especially if you have dabbled in playing several different classes.
I know what you mean OP, I am in the same boat as you are. One of the few challenge rifts I’ve been able to successfully complete is one Demon Hunter CR, and that’s because I only play DH. I almost know how to play that class so I got lucky and was able to complete it.
The other one was the recent barbarian CR, the last one that Raxx did his last video for. So far that’s been it for CR’s for me, so this requirement will be a game stopper.
This requirement will probably stop me from completing the Altar. I’m not a very good player and when I first saw the Altar I knew I would only be able to get so far before I hit a wall. It appears that the Challenge Rift requirement will be that wall.
OP, that’s great that you can do a 120, I think about as far as I ever got was around GR mid-high 90’s. Right now I’m stuck at GR 90 with the current gear the DH has that I’m playing. My goal is to get the pet for this season.
I really don’t know how some of these players do it, getting 3000 paragon in a season and blasting thru everything in two days. Amazing.
No life, no sleep, no outside interests. And that is fine if that’s what they choose - I’m not judging. Just play the game you want to play and don’t let others dictate your fun or enjoyment.
This last week’s CR did blow chunks - terrible build. Maybe this week’s will be a bit better?
