Challenge rift cache as an altar requirement

Why is an item locked behind a weekly wall (that is there for convenience of items that could be farmed for anyways) a requirement to be sacrifice? and now for players who used their cache before getting to that point on the altar have their progression (for the newest tree in the game) stunted because of consuming an item that is implied to be consumed.

here is asking Blizzard to make the cache purchasable from Edira, not for the mats, but for the altar req, after completing the challenge.

You are not stuck.
You are not halted.
Make your progression in the meantime. Like, farm staff of herding, farm uber bosses to craft Ancient Hellfire amulet, do GR push, farm primal items (6 at least), etc. When you get another CR Cache, you’ll be ready to unlock the rest of the Altar in 20 minutes or less.
Just play the game as if the Altar was not even there.

i never said i was stuck. that SPECIFIC tree is objectively halted. it is impossible to add another point into the altar until the next cashe becomes available. Yes you are correct i can farm other parts of the altar, but they cant be spent for a week behind something that can’t be farmed. that is a ridiculous consequence for a rather benign item.

i completely hate how they added this to the Alter. Had the same issue and used it, then 1 hour later the alter asked for it. 100% quitting this garbage until D4 comes out. and they better not make a dumb decision like this again. Let alone, opening the box is basically useless to begin with. So its all a waste of time. Fail game mechanic. It shows no one tests the product before the release.

All of this information was readily available before the season even started. Don’t blame anyone but yourself if you weren’t prepared.

That’s why I read guide on Maxroll which lists all requirements and how to get them efficiently.

Yeah, I thought this was a bit unkind for those who like to discover a new league as they play rather than read up before.

I think it would have taken some of the fun out for me if my altar progress got blocked for a week. I think it would be fair enough to be able to get another cache from Edira for the altar if you give her back materials that equate to an average cache.

That’s what I did. When I got my cache, I finished the non-potion portion of the altar.
