For many years, I’ve wondered at the best use of Gems of Ease. With new Legendary and Set items appearing in recent times, my post-season gear sort has become a nightmare of rebirthing. And a L70 character is always easier to sort gear on – or rebirth. But that means getting from L1 to 70 as fast as possible in Non-Season…
So, here’s the challenge:
Design a build of Level 70 items that will work for any character class (with small tweaks) once the level requirement of every item has been removed with a Gem of Ease. The build should allow the character to reach L70 on Torment VI in solo play without dying and with minimal slow-down at the top end.
Rules & Tweaks:
- Each class is allowed a maximum of two unique items. For example, Demon Hunter can have a bow and a quiver, or two Hand-Crossbows. Ideally, Crusader and Barbarian will share a shield, or a 2-Handed Weapon – the fewer total items, the better.
- You may assume that the main stat can be rerolled, but expect it to be at the bottom of its range.
- All items may be Ancient, though builds which don’t require this get extra points.
- Assume 800 Paragon levels.
- All greater gems are permitted, at Rank 50 or so.
- Don’t forget the follower!
- Test the build at T6 Level 70.
Posting your Build
Post the details of your build in whatever manner you think is clearest. That might be a link to DiabloFans, or a summary of the gear. Remember to include any key skills that might be needed to make the build work at higher levels. And also include any key stats on gear, either as general statements, or piece-by-piece.
Theory crafting is fine, but if you can actually test your build, post the 1-70 levelling time and which class(es) you used. Video proof for multiple classes would be the cherry on top!
My Own Thoughts
For a long time, I thought this might be the one valuable use for Blackthorne’s set (because it boosts multiple skills). Recently, I realised that a group of LoN or LoD builds would probably work much better, especially from level 60 to 70, when self-power levelling usually slows down significantly. Of course, there’s craftable sets that are not class specific…
I’m fascinated to hear what everyone comes up with!
