Captain Crimson's ZMonk

Anyone have experience with a CC ZMonk? Does it work as well?

I crafted CC belt & pants, swapped Leoric’s for Inna’s helm, & swapped Obsidian for RoRG. Sheet numbers look good, higher CDR & RCR, a small life regen healing increase, and a large toughness increase due to the new CC RCR damage reduction.

But I haven’t run it live yet, only beat on some mobs outside of town. The loss of Obsidian ring is noticeable. I do not have perfect gear CDR rolls, missing 3% additive on ammy & 1 sword. Sanctuary uptime is still 100% but not a lot of overlap. Epiphany is borderline.

I have 2 RoRGs:

  1. 8% CDR, no health globes healing bonus - town sheet CDR 72.17%
  2. 0 CDR, 29.3K health globes bonus - town sheet CDR 69.78%

With RoRG #1 Epiphany expires right as the cool down ends, visually even. With RoRG #2 Epiphany ends about 2-3 seconds (eyeballed) before the cool down. These times include the Swiftness gem effects.

Maybe with max gear CDR rolls everywhere Epiphany could have 100% uptime with a little overlap available.

Ephiphany 75% is perma. In town CDR + gogok >= 75% can remove zodiac. This is best done with bornes+captain sets.

Captain 3pc RCR provided mitigation should offset the loss of either star of AZ or countess juliet. When CDR BP is met, zodiac can be removed for a good rorg on equip. If so, can cube flavor of time for 2x conduit. On equip, either hell fire or star of az should work. Personally, I take off hell fire as it provides NDE in most cases and its kinda redundant with an average of 40-50%+ RCR (mitigation).

Although captains fits zephyr zmk the best, it still compliments traditional cyclone zmk to certain degree.

u can get over 75% cdr with gogok and good cdr stats, but as i know u need gogok stacks first before skill activation to get cdr from it and thats where is the problem.

With Crimson and max cooldown on EVERY spot you get 73.09% CDR before Gogok and you need 75% for Epiphany 100% uptime. You need 8% on shoulders, gloves, amulet and both rings; 10% on both weapons and paragon; 20% from CC and Beacon and 12.5% from the diamond in your helm.

To sum Sanjuro and Khord up, with perfect rolls and without Gogok you need to bridge 1,1438 seconds + the time you need to press the button (Born’s sadly disqualifies as you’d loose Inna). The 1,1438 could be done with 8 stacks of Gogok, which is the first time you would be able to use Epi or have that time later on when you are standing in a bulk - if one of them cc’s you it might be a wipe (also you might loose the stacks while moving which would start the process all over).
The main reason why I’m sceptical is that there seems to be little reward for the change. You risk sth, but can’t profit. The damage increase from Cpt.C is irrelevant for zmnk and Flavor of Time does only work on the one who touches the pylon. Granted I haven’t played support mnk for a while but aren’t there better roles to use that window?

Ed.: One last thought; even if you do all the above and get Gogok up to 15 stacks, your overlap on Epi would be 1,277 seconds, a small lagspike and you’re gone. The record on a GR150 last season was at sth around 5min 33sec., if I remember correctly. In that GR you’d have to have hit that window 22 times to be perma Epi, which I doubt the other three people are willing to risk their effort, if the GR fails, for.

I just put a zmonk with crimsons together 76.63% CDR 38% RCR 174K Globe bonus 70K life regen. ran a 4 man 107 in 6 mins and change perma epiphany (which means perma teleport), and perma inner sanctuary. I have 2.3 mill in the life ball. Build is amazing . Monk is “NoDeaths” in my profile

Looks great. Although the CDR in your build is no problem cause you still run Obsidian - which brings me to the queastion of what did the OP replace the Obsidian with. Here you got RoRG,Obsidian and Occulus; Are there any useful alternatives apart from another amulet for dr?

This is really just me asking, no trolling. What did you change compared to the old build - Gogok out for another gem but loosingNemesis/Strongarm?
Also did you really run Epi Desert Shroud and would you change that for Soothing Mist on higher GRs?

This is not true. Borns + captains + inna will be your default zephyr monk sets. It has few tweaks:

  • No istavan blades. Either stormshield or pigsticker. Optimized zmk dont need storm tankiness but it can roll another globe with benefits both time of need and breath of healing. Alternatively, can go pigsticker. Pig jst attacks faster. Gearing for this is inna 3pc including spirit stone, bornes shoulder + swd. captain belt + pants. Rorg on equip or cube. Occulus on equip. Leorics crown is not used here as CDR can be reached 75+ in town. My cdr is not maxed and standing 74.98 in town. If RCR is 50-60% and paragon is high (5k+), spirit guard can be dropped for leorics, but in general its not needed for that high CDR. This setup can break 80% with gogok stacks.

(Note that BoH healing is stronger than Soothing Mist. Having 3x healing skills meaning att spd is no longer a critical stat as SM will be your lowest priority source of healing. Both ToN and BoH dont benefit from att spd. Due to cyclone is removed, spirit is no longer an issue. Another reason att spd can be lowered)

  • With Istavan blades. Inna spirt stone + boots + glove. Captains belt + pants. Bornes shoulder + chest. Cube illusory. This setup removes spirit guard. RCR needs 50-60% to cover loss of SG.

Due to captains RCR = toughness, aquila is no longer considered.

Desert can replace soothing on high (145-150 GR). Removing spirit guard and cube eye of peshkov type of tweaks. Its not as consistant as 3 healing skills and zmk needs very optimized gears (50-60% RCR) including near perfect globes. Its not recommended low paragon (3-4k or under) zmk taking off spirit guard even with 60% RCR. With spirit guard, zmk has no reason to take desert shroud even on 800 paragon stats.

Not saying that it wouldn’t work - (didn’t even consider loosing the Blades or the Soliloquy :sweat_smile: ) - but you didn’t consider loosing the armor increase from Istvan’s or the 50% flat dr from the shoulders?! Or did you mean the Shoulders by Spirit Guards - cause for the life of me I can’t see a reason to remove bracers in your description excet you wanted to include Nemesis?

what about different perspective. Equip captain crimson, keep obsidian, drop rue chambers, drop white gem from helm, equip yellow, you would lose only 5% CDR, with good cdr rolls on other items you would still be able to keep epiphany 100% uptime, and you would gain lot of toughness and lot of RCR, with some other RCR rolls u could drop Chant of resonance passive to take another one, and thanks to added tougness you could drop NDE too. Thoughts?

It depends how optimised zmk it is. Fully optimised zmk dont need lebvre shoulder and istavan blades to function. And i am talking about 150 with no NDE.

When you are that optimized. Spirit guard 60% is all you need. This is pre captains zmk. With captains 60% rcr, this amount = mitigation, essentially the same as spirit guard therefore it can be removed. Mk tankiness is self only, while cubing leorics or eye of peshkov helps party.

Zodiac wont function on zephyr builds as theres no spender to proc it.

I don’t personally see a point for captains in a traditional cyclone zmk. The rcr is nice but cdr wise, captains dont really cover loss of both vigilante belt +leorics. You dont really want to include bornes in this set up. You can but with zodiac theres no point. With zodiac + captains you lock rorg+occulus+zodiac. Due to flavour of time must be default amulet, you are forced to get a gg version its not as easy to roll oppose to cube it. Hellfire benefits cyclone zmk more as this one has 2 healing skills oppose to 3 and spender to consumer spirit. So both att spd passive + chant is recommended or one att spd and unity. For zephyr buils, chant is taken off due to spirit is too stable even w/o it.
