Can't Continue Campaign on Switch?

Hello all - I am BRAND NEW to Diablo III and starting playing campaign mode on Switch. Apologies in advance that I have no idea how everything works with seasons, campaign mode, etc. I also originally posted this in New Players but got no response so I am reposting here.

I followed the advice of all Diablo III forums and created a “seasonal” hero. When I attempted to continue yesterday where I left off in Act 1 it says “You cannot start a seasonal game while local players have a non-seasonal hero selected”. What does this mean and how do I simply get back to the main story / campaign game where I left off?

I just want to play the game normally and continue advancing the story, leveling my character, etc. from where I left off. But I cannot for the life of me get the game to start again. Is this normally how it works for a “seasonal” character or this is a bug with this new season launch? Does the game just end for a seasonal character at the end of the season and you can’t play the campaign anymore from where you left off with that same character? I just want to play it like a normal game where you keep the same character, items, etc. as you play through the game and then eventually get to end-game.

Note I tried going into game settings and choosing campaign from there it just kicks me back to the same menu screen right back to where I started with the same exact error message. Very confusing!

Please let me know how to best proceed to simply keep playing the campaign where I left off. Or if I need to start over that would suck. Thanks

You will have to wait for it to be fixed to continue where you left of I guess.

At the moment any seasonal characters including newly created ones are somehow not recognised as seasonal, in my case also the season journal has been reset and all my gear from season was send to the non-season mail.

You can however create a new non+seasonal character to play on, but you most likely will have to start from scratch if you have not played non seasonal before, or it could be that you will find your gold and items from your seasonal play in the mail on non-seasonal, it happened to me not sure if this is the same for you.

same here, waiting for season 34…

I was with my first char, paragon 541, never played before, it was fun :frowning:

But I don’t want to play non-season, I was happy playing for season achievements and I just had completed my Rathma set, doing lvl 80+ GRs.

it sucks but, I’ll wait for season 34…

I can’t create or play with any season char until they fix it or start new season, if I understood it right.

I hope at least that Blizzard compensates those who were affected by this premature end of Season 33.

Ok this is odd, I just checked on a secondary Nintendo account on the same console, this Nintendo account has not played this season at all and I have no issues creating a season character and play with it.

The save for diablo 3 on that account was so old it gave me a notification that it was from a previous version of d3.

So it seems that only players who have played this season may be affected it and I think it has something to do with the save data. If I was able to export my save data I could have checked if my last cloud backup from last month would work.

Could anybody check if they can create and play season on a nintendo account with no save data as well?
It won’t solve the issue but it would maybe confirm that it is a save data issue… Hopefully not a permanent one…

I really hope they fix this soon because this is upsetting…I play D3 on Nintendo switch as well

Based on my other thread about this topic I gave up waiting for a fix and restarted the campaign from scratch with a non-seasonal character. I just want to play the game through on Switch without worrying about these random error messages that won’t allow me to play the character. It’s a bummer too as I had some pretty cool equipment in my first play through. Also not to mention having to waste time replaying a bunch of content I already did.

I tried it with my cloud backup but it didnt work so I’ll play something else untill next season

I’m brand new to the forums. Joined in order to get some advice on all this.

I am pretty new to D3. Started playing on switch during Season 33. I created a seasonal character not having any idea what that meant. I joined to play the campaign, and enjoyed it enough to stick around. Played through a Crusader build, got stuck around GR100. Then started over with a Witch Doctor, having realized a number of unintentional errors I’d made along the way with my crusader.

Got my WD up to Paragon 1100 or so, and was able to do solo GR116. Completed the Altar. Loving that double primal life. Doing…you know, fine.

I was playing D3 on Sunday. And it was apparently the season end time. I was in the middle of a GR, then the game suddenly went blank. Character showed up in the middle of the road heading into Act V. Pretty weird I thought! Then my stash is empty, there’s this weird mailbox, my cube only has 3 slots. At this point I realize something is very weird and I asked my good friend the internet. The top thread in General Discussion is more or less what google thought I was interested in. I’ve read all that. The fixes that are offered there seem like they all apply to PC. The rollback thing in particular I know doesn’t work for Console users for some reason.

Plus, unless I keep my Switch on Airplane mode, I can’t even access either of my characters. It’s annoying. I have to take the switch off the dock, put it on airplane mode, start the game and then put it back on the dock. Once I’m in Tristram or wherever, in order to get to my seasonal stash I have to back out of the game and turn off airplane mode. Then my seasonal stash is there? It’s very confusing.

For us console folks, what are we supposed to do? All I know is that the altar is gone, my fourth cube slot is gone. Now it’s a struggle to even clear GR106. Plus, is any of my progress even applying to the leaderboards? Not that I’m flying up the charts or anything, lol.
