So, after a long time playing the seasonal mode and all, i decided to create a hardcore character, to see if it’s cool and all, i played untill lvl 16, and then i realized it was too easy and decided to change the difficulty, so i went there and i couldn’t change, appeared that i haft to complete Act 4 to change to a higher difficulty, but i already completed Diablo III a few times already, and then i completed again in history mode to see if was a bug, or whatever, but nothing changed.
Softcore and hardcore are completely separate. Nothing is shared apart from the cosmetics. So your first run through hardcore is basically as a brand new player, and you face the same limitations: your maximum difficulty is limited to Expert until you can unlock the higher difficulty levels.
On top of what Wolfie said, you also can’t change the difficulty in-game. You can only change it from the main menu.
It’s an anti-cheat measure solely for HC.
So, i have to do the full game in Expert, to unlock some difficulty levels?
Yep. Until you get to lvl70 I think. But at least you don’t have to worry about dying or gearing. Until you have to.
So you’re better off doing it in season, so you make use of the bonus. And whatever you unlock on the way, transfers over to non-season at the end.
I dunno for sure… but it seems to me that, once you reach a checkpoint, you can exit game and change difficulty there, before reloading the game and continuing from checkpoint…
I.e. I dont think you need to play the whole game in expert first.
In fact it’s quite clear here that you already changed the difficulty from Normal to Expert, so go ahead. Exit, change to whatever, and reload.
No, only that Expert is the highest difficulty level you can play on your first run through the campaign. You unlock Master when you complete the campaign, and unlock Torment when you reach level 60.
Frankly, it is a stupid and rather patronizing system, as if new players can’t be trusted in choosing an appropriate difficulty level for themselves. But that’s Blizzard for you. I wonder if they’re going to pull this BS in D4.
