Can we bring back legacy Furnace and Rimeheart?

The legacy version of these weapons are no longer OP since the GR ceiling is capped and has become much more accessible. Why not bring back the fun versions of these former monsters? Rimeheart used to be awesome. Now it’s a few souls at best.

On that note…. How about the next season bring out the last two quinblades?

Is the game too hard for you…?

I can’t quite remember what legacy Furnace offered but I remember Rimeheart and I still think it was overpowered. Killing small monsters instantly is still a big deal and not even replicated by the overpowered Soul Shards we gonna get within’ Season 25.

There are five quinblades already; Deathwish, Rimeheart, Fulminator, Quinquennial and Second Quinquennial.

Legacy Furnace had a % Crushing Blow affix. Way back when the GR cap was 100 after GR were first introduced, two guys, a Witch Doctor and a Monk did a GR 100 with those weapons.

Reasons:

  1. There was a bug where your pets dying contributed to GR progress.
  2. You could weapon swap, so they’d use Furnace first and then finish off mobs with Rimeheart.

It was a complete debacle considering how week sets were back then and GR 30 was considered an outstanding performance.

That’s pretty much why the items were nerfed and you can’t switch items in GR and stuff like that.

But I remember that they tested the Crushing Blow affix in a wider focus at a PTR. It was possible to roll that on any rare item. Perhaps I should check wikis about it…
(a web search later)
Burning Crushing Blow? Yeah, that’s something.

Oh yeah, I remember it now. And in the current state of the game it still too OP to be brought back.

The funniest thing in D3’s timeline is the introduction of the Necromancer Class. At its introduction, Necromancers outclassed all other classes when it came to damage. It outperformed everyone else by around 20 GR Tiers.

But instead of nerfing Necromancers so close to their introduction, the devs decided to buff everyone else.

But even at that, Necromancers were still more powerful than everyone else giving rise to “RatRuns” that was the meta for something 5 or 7 seasons.

Ever since, the devs have been chasing balance and it’s all on account of the Necromancer’s introduction.

LOL!!!

Edit: It also had to do with a bugged interaction between the Demon Hunter’s Marked for Death skill and Necromancer’s Frailty.

They decided they weren’t going to remove all of higher ranked gems all the cheaters achieved after allowing the bug to go unchecked for something like 3 weeks, so they principally had to do all classes wide buff to make those gem levels achievable by people that didn’t decide to cheat.

I have a bunch of old stuff in my hard-core vault. Why not bring back the double socket manticore? Lol

Legacy furnace is CB, 12% dmg base on mob HP on proc regardless of GR tier, similar to conduit pylon in GR.

Anything ties with CB has to be buried due to the GR scaling system. If the combo makes a come back, you ll be able to crush 150 same style how the 100 was crushed in 2014.

How is that any different from what is already happening now?

My point is exactly that: how’s it so different than what we have now? At least any build could equip these items and find a place in farming speed runs or pushed. Better than having select “chosen builds”. At least IMO

Theres 1x conduit pylon per GR… CB works exactly as condy pylon.

The difference is you need to farm gears and paragon to crush 150s, with CB… zbarb and zmk on 0 para has same dmg as the OP Fire Inna with 20K para provided you can survive.

If CB returns, you might as well inbuilt Thud / bot or enable console mode allowing editing what ever data you like in game.

Neither of you have done 150 though, judging by your profiles, so clearly it would.

I don’t need to drive a Ferrari to know it’s faster than a Fiat.
Likewise, I don’t need to play something overpowered to know it’d be overpowered.

Of course. Notice I didn’t quote you? They claimed adding items to cakewalk 150 would be no different than currently. IF you can’t cakewalk it now but can if the changes are made clearly things are different.

Can’t and not are not the same thing. Just discuss ideas is more than enough for this old man. Let’s not argue unless there’s money on the line. Cheers gents.

More powercreep to make 150 more achievable would be a good thing. Especially should become much more achievable for solo play.
To close the gap with group play by much.

True and fair, but cake walk 150 solo on a zdps toon vs dps toon is not quite the same. Dmg scaling has to be sourced from the character hence sense of progression from building up characters. CB on the other hand scale off the monster HP, you can use the exact same set of gears/paragon level from GR 1 to 150. Imagine a permanent conduit pylon with internal cool down, thats what CB was.

There’s absolutely no purpose for all dps builds to exist anymore. Bis bd for all class is blackthorns+toughness items, aka zdps toons.

Think before requesting silly power creeps, theres a reason why CB was wiped clean back in the days, there are heavy nerfs in the past to bds, but rarely as clean wiped nerf as CB.

You might as well unnerf the lies clones bug and allow players solo 150 in 3 mins sub 2k all class in a kamikaze style.

Not sure whether you are referring to me, but I feel the need to clarify things.

I am not asking for a zdps to cake walk gr 150.
I am not asking for a dps sub 2000 to cakewalk gr150.

Cakewalking could be fine for para 3000+, full max augmentations etc. or something.

They should bring back the crushing blow in a season theme.
