Blizzard is moving on from supporting the Mac, which probably makes business sense. I have been a player of Diablo since version one but it looks like they will not have D4 on Mac just like D2R. It has been fun but to be honest D3 on Mac plays like crap and seems to only be getting worse and as you can see from posts here Bliz is not quick to respond to issues. Its been fun and I wish Blizzard continued success but it is clearly time for us Mac users to move on.
This isn’t an airport, you don’t need to announce your departure.
Also cutting off finacially bad features isn’t a wrong thing to do. Macs represent such a tiny portion of the potential playerbase that a dedicated client for that platform isn’t worth the expenses.
How any gamer can use Mac as a platform is beyond me. It’s just not good for games. Apple treats developers like chit and does little to make gaming friendly to its products.
I can see why people would like to use Macs. One would imagine it would be amazing for games if you look at what its used for. Just no desire from Apple to make it happen.
I would suggest buying a console to play games on if you are dead against using a PC.
Sorry to disagree, I’m a PC user, always have been and always will be, but Apple is the preferred choice by graphic design professionals by an overwhelming margin. Now, we can go back to the 80’s and 90s why Mac became a juggernaut in this field but that’s not really the point. I’m just stating a fact and has nothing to do with my preference.
The funny part is that a lot a Mac’ users don’t know that there are possibilities to emulate Windows and use Windows apps correctly (even now on the Mx series).
I’m a Mac user and if I need to run an only-Windows app, I have few, very few problems to do it.
If you can afford to buy the overpriced Apple product, I see no reason why you can’t buy Windows for gaming…or is it due to pride or a superior complex issue that you don’t want to buy a regular PC?
Apps are one thing, but for the purpose of real-time rendering that seems like some serious overhead.
I hear that Steam saw the highest concurrent users ever this year. I assume that means mac saw a similar uptick? If so atvi chose a fine time to drop mac, but I can see if they’re lacking for qualified computer scientists that they only have so many resources to allocate.
To be honest, I don’t know. If I have to use an only-Windows app, there small apps.
I’m not a big gamer (except Diablo), and the games that I like to play are on Mac platform.
I think it’s due to the “new” M1/M2 if you talked about Mac gamers.
I agree with you but I’ve seen several posts like this on several game forums. One random guy on the internet says bye and it’s “ok… cool?” while some other random guy does it and it’s “big news” for some reason.
