Blizzard: Internet is getting DDoS'd... Meanwhile on Steam

Honesty is a big deal to me in business and I find it really interesting that Blizzard is claiming the “Internet” is getting DDoS’d and that’s impacting them.

Meanwhile, on Steam, play any game you want without issue… Hmmmmm…

I’m going with, poor excuse Blizzard.

There are ways you can architect your services to circumvent this stuff. Steam is giving you a black eye right now, curious if little Epic is having the same issue or not…

Don’t believe it OP.

Why was it just recently when I was able to log on and the friends list was gone.

I had a friend logged on same region but we could not see each other nor invite each other from general chat which was working, tho not showing clan affiliation.

My point is, even if it IS true, it’s just a reflection of how poorly they architect their environment compared to most of their peers.

I think they believe “were blizzard, we don’t have to go out of our way.”

Actually “too many players logging in at the same time” itself is a kind of DDoS.   But calling it DDoS is a reflection of the poor quality of battlenet infra…

So ISPs getting DDoS’d or what?

Yeah… put it on AWS or Azure… Scale environment based on customer demand. Only pay for the resources you consume gasp problem solved!

In the meantime, life is good on steam, going with ISPs being DDoS’d isn’t the issue…

I love when people make posts and have no idea what so ever about the topic they’re trying to sound knowledgeable on.
