Awesome !
Can’t wait
Thank you for the info… I am rdy
Dear lord, they really are going for just a few days of beta That is… a decision, for sure.
The IGN interviewer somewhat tries to point out that it is a PR event rather than a beta test, but is clearly not able to fully go there.
At the very least they could have left the Early Access running the whole week into the Open Beta weekend.
Expect 6 hour queues to join a game, this time counting against you, and then disconnects and inability to rejoin… and, when it does connect, back to 6 hour delays.
I hope it is worth it. I won’t be testing. My time is much more valuable.
That’s what open betas are. They had many months of F&F and 2 months of endgame beta, along with1 weekend for the press already. The end game beta was pretty freaking polished compared to any other closed beta ive beennin for Blizzard and that is dozens of them. You sir, worry way too much. The biggest thing you worried about was endgame systems, and that got 2 months.
No one said you had to.
More like 1 month. Which certainly is not much. It didn’t even have multiple phases of the developers adding changes based on the testing, which could then be tested.
It wouldn’t have to be a open beta. They should just test their game more, instead of doing another D3 release.
Thank you again Avalon!
I decided to wait until June 6th so when I play for keeps there will be no spoilers for me.
The game has been tested for quite a long time ready. A few months of F&F, 2 for endgame, 1 weekend for press and 2 weekends for EA/OB. Games do not need to be tested for half a year or longer anymore with access to all the metrics and capturing mechanisms available.
I also though you liked when devs stuck to their guns. No need to make many changes of substance just balancing and fine tuning. Again, much of the xomaints were about D4 being something different than what a certain crowd wanted.
The game wil be fine.
Thank you for once again doing the Blue’s job who are too lazy to link this here.
Blizzard seemingly disagrees, as seen with WoW betas.
1 month of beta testing is just really low for a company known for not doing well with internal testing (probably due to how they treat their QA?)
Devs who know which guns they are trying to stick to, yeah. So Blizzard isn’t exacly a case there.
Those are hardly “just”.
What’s the deadline for the pre-purchase? If I pre-purchase it on Mar 15th would I still qualify for the earlier date? Or is it already too late?
I’m not surprise by the short duration of the open beta, in fact I had even expected. That said, I did not expect the level to be capped at 25, but then again considering how short the beta will be, in terms of duration, it shouldn’t be surprising. Quite honestly, I’m glad I had the chance to experience the closed beta and gave whatever feedback I could.
That said, I’m more interested in that in-game cinematic rather then the beta (although I’ll still participate just to see the campaign of act 1). So many questions are running around in my head. I’m curious about the demonic beast that seems to be haunting us, and whether said beast is connected to Diablo.
I don’t see why not, not to mention I didn’t see a deadline on the blog discussing the pre-order.
How do you even get the code to redeem the beta access? I have pre-ordered the game, check my email. Nothing.
If you pre-purchased the game digitally, then it sounds like you don’t have to worry about a code.
Early Access Beta Code Redemption
Do you have a Beta Early Access code** for Diablo IV? It’s time to redeem it! If you pre-purchased the game digitally, Early Access to the Open Beta will be automatically available on the platform you pre-purchased for—no further action is required of you. But for those with an Early Access code, instructions are listed below. More information on how to download the Beta will be available as the Beta draws near.

I see, thanks for the clarification !
Wow is a significantly larger game and has significantly more variables to test for. Come on man. You are better than this.
Blizzard is exactly this in regards to D4. They settled on how they want their itemization, which is by far the biggest complaint from the past betas. No amount of testing is going to make them say, “you onow what? Those D2 guys were right and we should overhaul our itemization,. Thank goodness we let people test an additional month.” I said it then and I’ll say it now, D4 was set in stone when it was announced. Only minor things that don’t go against their core pillars will be changed.
I mean CEB ended in November. 7 months is plenty.
Considering how significantly it has changed, including itemization, since announcement, this is clearly not the case.
You likely would have said the same about D3 at release? And then they overhauled their itemization.
