Blackhand Key Needs Power

Blackhand Key is a Legendary Wand for Wizards. It has no Legendary power, but the inscription reads:

“The spine of the urdar is known to possess unique magical properties that unlock arcane secrets for those brave enough to wield it.”

An intriguing inscription that gives rise to many imagined ways a Legendary power could reflect it and benefit the mage armed with it.

Blackhand Key: When you deal elemental damage, you deal 60% additional damage of another random element as well.

So like a 1.6 multiplier?

The majority of builds would not use that, because they have 2 different weapon powers that have much bigger than 1.6x multipliers.

Meteors wouldn’t use it, orbs wouldn’t use it, twisters wouldn’t use it, hydras wouldn’t use it.

The only two builds that would potentially use that are Firebird’s Flame Blades and Chantodo Vyr’s. And it wouldn’t be all that special with either of those builds, just marginally better than their other options for the weapon cube slot.

Or whatever the multiplier would need to be… its a placeholder and not a Flintstone etching. Make it 1894784656872346514369756748e+743679536576437534 and I don’t care. Still not going to use it.

As you’ve stated in another topic, you don’t have room for more gear in your stashes and inventories. So the more that can be salvaged, the better.

I don’t play a Wizard a lot, Just my low-tier version of the WW/CM (Energy Twister) build, and the Hydra, which is quite fun to play.

But these sound like great ideas. Maybe Blizzard will take note…

Looking at the above posts and thinking Familiar and Mirror Images are left behind after Firebird changes; maybe make closest Mirror Images attack the target of Familiar and deal more damage?

Actually, I want it to fit a theme of Urdars and perhaps Diablo 2 Blackhand Key more than buffing less used skills of Wizards. Diablo 2 counterpart of Blackhand Key was capable of casting Grim Ward out of body parts of monsters.

Maybe, when Mirror Images die, they would cause monsters flee in fear too? This would force Wizard to get Power Hungry and Familiar- Icicle for catching up targets at far distances. This synergy can be tweaked and emphasized for a lightning Starfire build.
However, this is not entirely effective against Elites considering they will grow resistance against hard control impairing effects, so that’s why you’d need Illusionist as well.
