Best gaming laptop for D2 Resurrected?

Thought this would be a helpful thread for people who are interested in buying a laptop solely for D2R.

I personally don’t have room on my desk for a PC/tower, so I need to buy the best laptop possible to run D2R at max settings or at least 4k 60FPS. I most likely won’t be using this laptop for anything else since I already have multiple macbooks and I’m not really interested in any other PC games.

Would love to hear some insight/experiences from those of you who played the beta on their gaming laptops.

If you have a gaming laptop and you had a great experience playing D2R beta please feel free to share which name/model.

I’m leaning towards one of these
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (Would be most ideal because of compact size)
ASUS ROG Strix G15 Advantage Edition

Ideally looking for something that doesn’t look like an obnoxious gaming laptop, but still a power beast enough to give the full D2R experience. Ideally leaning towards getting a ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14, but worried it won’t be powerful enough to run the game super well. Would love to know if anyone has any of these and how their experiences have been.

The Dell G series gaming laptops look decently professional. They still have the light up keyboard but at least they don’t advertise that your have a gaming laptop. I have a G7 I use and it ran the game just fine. All desync issues were had by others who used regular comps so I know it wasn’t my machine.

It did turn my beer into tea when I left it sitting next to the laptop while I was playing beta…

well to be fair the beta wasn’t very optimized many high spec laptop and desktop had some heat problem with the game even if not dangerous.
Will be fixed at launch with a little drivers most probably though.

Can’t find this specific model. How much did you pay for this guy and how long ago?

Do you think I can get something a little less powerful/expensive and still have the same experience?

well mine is a bit of a custom model as in improved compared to base legion 5 pro.
and i got it at a great discount for 1171€ (the custom/improved version cost quiet more normally) and it was in april.

That being said , yea Diablo 2 R isn’t very ressources hungry , just be sure to have quiet a bit or ram : atleast 16 while being a bit over the recommended spec for diablo 2 R (since laptop are usually weaker than desktop)
but no need to go as high as mine.
A six core CPU could be a plus though.
But do definitely take one with a dedicated graphics cards , otherwise it might not run xD

it also depends if you want to play low , high or ultra.
but i see very little difference between those 3 options personally having tried to compare them.
And even for ultra my laptop is a bit on the “overspec” side so it’s not hard to run ultra.

Almost no differences between low and ultra to me.

here’s a link that might help you :

Awesome thank you for the help!

I actually saw that link already and noticed the
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 is on there.

Do you think this model would be able to run Ultra smoothly?

[2021] HIDevolution ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401QM 14" FHD 144Hz, 3.0 GHz Ryzen 9 5900HS, RTX 3060, 24 GB 3200MHz RAM, 1 TB PCIe SSD

I can upgrade to 40 GB 3200MHz RAM as well.

yes should be largely enough : probably too much , but eh better having too much than not enough :stuck_out_tongue:

for the ram upgrade guess it depends on how much more expensive it is to see if worth it or not

But with or without it would do very nicely for D2R it will run ultra very smoothly

Holy crud batman. Low settings removes Charsi. Low spec doesn’t deserve her apparently.

Personally, if you’re gonna get a laptop, avoid ANY “ultra-thin” gaming laptops. They are a cancer on the laptop market. Very difficult to maintain because they are passively cooled which typically means thermal pastes will thin out and become less thermally efficient. My last few would hit 100c while doing tasks as simple as watching YouTube videos. My last one was the Asus ROG Zephyrus S.

Does the G14 count as an ultra-thin?

Part of me is thinking of going G15 just because I probably wont be moving my laptop much.

I’ll just use my Alienware x17.

I’m not worried about the heat. I play in a cold room.

Ultrathin laptops will be less than half an inch thick, and have no fans.

yes it can run ultra smoothly but it is rocking a 3060 on a 1080p screen i would try to get one of the 1440p 120hz versions.

Laptops don’t have widescreen support, so you won’t get the best experience possible with one.

Why are you trolling? Monitors exist for a reason.

I’ve been through a lot of gaming laptops.
Get a 17" one unless you plan on having it connected to a monitor all day.

Don’t get an amd cpu either. It’s overhyped.

Oh. You’ll find that a 2070 maxq on a certain laptop might perform the same as a 2080maxq on another. It’s important to look at power draw.

Yeah it’ll be connected to my monitor on my desk all day,

Makes me think 14inch or smaller would be best.

I got a Acer Nitro 5 was affordable and runs everything maxed, got it off amazon for 900$
