I bought D3 like 7 years ago, and finished the game way back then. I just tried making a new character in adventure mode, but adventure mode is locked. WHy would that be? Also, I dont have the Reaper of Souls expansion, but I did just buy it on eBay and I’m just waiting for it to be delivered.
So, how do I start adventure mode and is there anythig else that I should know after not playing for about 6.5 years?
Adventure mode is a RoS only feature. It won’t be available to you until you get the expansion installed.
After that, you’ll have to play through the campaign one more time in order to play through Act 5 and beat Maltheal. Then Adventure Mode will be open to you.

@ HeatM1ser : Please note that the “installation” will only require that you redeem the game key code here: https://account.blizzard.com/overview
There will be nothing else to download… according to your web profile, you played on 14 July, so your game is already up-to-date.

Note that Adventure Mode is always unlocked in Seasons. So, if you’re not too rusty, you might want to start with a Seasonal Character.
At the end of a Season, all Seasonal Characters are converted to non-Season. Everything you acquired and accomplished will carry over from Season to non-Season. You can continue playing the same Character each new Season by using the “Rebirth” option. Your Character will start over and have to level up again. But, you will keep your lifetime history (Kills, time played, etc.)
Also note, when you play Adventure Mode, you start in town with all your Followers and Artisans waiting to be leveled/trained.
Have fun and good hunting!

Just wait till Diablo 4 is released and announced this blizzcon. Save your money on a pointless DLC that’s only there to milk the community. The expansion itself could have been a free patch.

Don’t hold your breath.
More bad advice. It’s not pointless if you have fun playing it.

You bought RoS on eBay? Yikes.

Actually, returned the eBay purchase and bought the collector’s edition on Amazon
you know you can get the digital version, which means you dont need a physical copy, yes?

I got my upgrade off eBay aswell, cost me 10% of the price on blizzard store and it was a legit key code as I got the game box etc in the mail, it wasn’t a “stolen” digital key, although i know I was lucky the key hadn’t already been used. I really wanted to try the AR stuff with the book aswell but the app doesn’t seem to be available in my region or its just not available at all any more.

So, interesting story…paid $12 for the collectors edition. Arrived yesterday and the CD kay was already claimed. Called Amazon and complained, but the rep did nothing for me, so I asked for a supervisor. Told him some cockamemee story about how it was for my kids birthday yesterday, and he had specifically asked for the gift, and when the CD key didnt work it ruined his birthday. Anyway, long story short…the supervisor gave me a $50 Amazon gift card for my troubles…so I bought the digital copy of RoS and had $30 leftover. Now I’m gonna return the version I bought for a refund…
Anyway, beat that game just now so adventure mode is now available…yay!
If you see an unusually cheap special edition of some game in physical form, like the RoS Collector’s Edition in this case, odds are there’s a major reason for its cheap price. Already used key is propably the most common reason.
Avoid unusually cheap special editions.
