Battleground grouping is terrible

Anyone else having issues doing anything in battlegrounds? I am a paragon 38 and get sent into battle with paragon 50+. Saw a 94 in there today. This is bs. I am gettin one shotted every time. Cant kill anyone and just get smoked. It should only cover 10-20 paragons to make it even.

The Whale that smokes you in one game will be a team mate in another.

Don’t take it personally; you are there to do your three runs and get your materials.

what battlegrounds? Pandemonium?

oh that trash terrible diublo immoral game? nah i dont play that garbage. i heard you’re about to get smashed by whales all day though, the game population is dying and whales are crying they dont have enough free players to poop on all day so blizzard is supposedly letting whales who paid for gear 10 times better than you can get into lower ranked games.

but dont worry, like the guy above me said, just let the whales dominate everything and you just be meaningless fodder every single game. he likes being c’ed, so you should too he says.

You have to spend about $75k to get good battleground games.

The problem the OP is talking about is PVP cross server disparities. Not all servers have the same server paragon level. In the normal game this is great as players who weren’t there at launch don’t have as far to catch up. However, since PVP is cross server, those servers are sometimes way behind in terms of paragon.

Even with that said, it’s still probably a resonance disparity. Intentionally designed to entice PVP players to spend vast sums of money.

Define “Good”.

No, you don’t have to spend a lot of money. I have spent $50 (2 seasons of empowered battle pass & prodigy’s path).

Less than what I paid for D3, more fun than D3 was at launch. I still haven’t completed the campaign (but I am running around in Hell 2, having a good time, filling my codex.)

So far in the battlegrounds, I have an 83% win rate, 88 kills, 156 Assists, 1 MVP (no idea how that happened), and 10 wins. Of course, I have also died about 50 times, but from what I can tell, dying repeatedly doesn’t count against you.

I go looking for the whales and I tie them up as much as I possibly can; while they are whaling on me, the team accomplishes the mission and gets the victory.

And that whale? Odds are, they will be on my team in another battleground.

Not true, but you’re not in here for any honest discussion.

It’s like any other MMR OP. If there aren’t enough in your rating bracket they system expands the search criteria. Ever wonder how an OW matxh can have brinze, silver, gold, platinum, and/or diamond players all mixed together? That’s because not enough player of a specific bracket at on at the same time.

Considering you are P38, significantly below a large amount of players, it’s going to be hard to be placed in your ranking.

It is designed to be this way.
Grouping you up with players well above your power, so you get destroyed and incentivized to swipe that credit card.
Activision Blizzard has been known to use this design across their MTX titles (in the non-P2W titles it is more about being grouped up with people who have spent a bunch on cosmetics for example).

You obviously haven’t spent much time in the PvP battleground.

The whales are spread out now, and there is at least one on each side. I can easily hold my own, because I wasn’t stupid enough to outrun the server paragon level. Btw, you can just as easily get destroyed by someone at your paragon level or lower. Why worry about getting destroyed?

Dying does not affect your battleground rating. What matters is the mission. I die early and often - yet I have an 83% win rate, which is a lot higher than a lot of folks at my Paragon level (84). I have even managed to be the MVP for my team on one mission.

My goal is to find the whale and tie him up as much as I possibly can. While the whale is having fun killing me - my team is getting the sweet, sweet notification of victory.

And that whale? They lose - and lose battleground rating. Which is a dopamine rush for me.

Dont know. OP clearly worried about it. Which is the intend.

so you basically just told us the game is dead and nobody is playing anymore. kk thnx

Not dead but keep on troll my dude.

Every time I logon regardless of the day or time I see people all over the place on my server (Amber Blades).

I have never played an MMO before, so I am not sure if this is how it works. But most of the people I see running abound in the open world do not help each other that much. Everyone seems to be doing their own thing for the most part.

No, this is one of the “features” of P2W game. The F2P players or low P2W players are simply there for cannon fodder. If they make it fair and put the whales against the whales, the whales will quit since they cannot flex their credit card muscles and stomp the poor players. No one will drop $75,000 on a video game because they want fair competition. They want an advantage, not a small one.

If you want fair competition, start swiping that card. Acti-Blizz is not going to cater to the non-paying player and remove the paying player’s advantages.

Very true who is paying the bills it is not the 100% F2P players. I paid for a battlepass at launch because I am not a freeloader, but I have not spent anymore on Immortal. I like the base game and expansion price much better. Please do not screw up D4 Blizzard.

Have you actually done battlegrounds? You don’t seem to understand how it actually works.

It isn’t 1 or 2 whales against the F2P or the folks that just pay a little (like me). Every battleground I have been in has either the same amount of whales on each side, or 1 side has one more.

I actively look for the whales - they are easily distracted from the mission. While they are whaling on me, my side is completing the mission and getting victory.

yah we’re sure you totally make a difference in the outcome, bryan pats head

Nope. I do not play games with predatory P2W microtransactions.

Yes, I do. It is designed to give the whales a playground to wreck F2P or small paying players.

The whales are not interested in completing objectives. Winning or losing the mission is irrelevant. They are interested in showing you how much your character sucks.

Indeed. If each side has at least one whale, it means everyone gets to “experience” the whales (which can happen both when they are on your team or the opposite team, seeing a whale carry you to victory also encourages that credit card swiping). And more whales get to feed than if it was just 1 whale per game.

You are talking out your 4th point of contact alexismad. You have a preconceived notion that isn’t actually backed up by reality. Unlike you, I have been actively engaged in PvP. 50% of the whales lose in every battlefield dust up.

I don’t care what a whale thinks - Sorcerers aren’t the best for PvP, but if you understand your strengths and your weaknesses, you can have a great time, killing the other players and setting up whales for failure (or death).

Because I win (83% win rate), my battlefield ranking goes up. If you are on a losing team, your battlefield ranking goes down.

Losing doesn’t make me want to whip out one of my CCs. Hey, they got me. On to the next round. My sense of self-worth isn’t as fragile as a lot of people on this forum.

Whales don’t always carry, Shadout. If that were the case, I wouldn’t have an MVP award for one of my battlegrounds.

What matters are kills and assists, and as a Sorcerer, I am a point guard.
