I’m trying to find information on the use of plyons when I use bane of stricken to GR push. I am using LOD bombardment and my stack is a bit slow going. I want to know if its worth grabbing a plyon like speed / channeling /defense at the start of a GR boss fight for the AD splash. My punish attack rate is only 1 per 30frames; bombs and condemn atk every 4 secs each. All i know so far is that power pylon is always used at the last 30-40% of health. But the other pylons, I’m not sure if I should use them or are they detremental to the bane stack?
In general you only start using Stricken when the RG fight alone takes a significant portion of the rift clear time. Don’t bother unless it takes several minutes.
Some builds like generator builds with huge attack speed can use Stricken much earlier as they can build stacks very quickly. But even then the statement above stands.
my question is not when to use bane of stricken. its actually when to use pylons when i have stricken equiped
But to answer your question. stricken is a must on bombardment builds since boss fights take between 4-6mins
Bane of the Stricken is mandatory on every build almost, so I think it confusing that you even mention it. For a second I started to question if game has a skill named Bane of the Stricken or people managed to remove and equip back gems in a Greater Rift… Whatever…
I don’t have the exact answer but here is the only related article for your question and it doesn’t speak of any kind of reset for the stacks.

In another main article here for Pylon types;
https://maxroll.gg/d3/resources/greater-rift-explained#pylon-mechanics
It says:
Power Pylon:
…
- Best use: Usually in huge pulls with some Elites timed with Convention of Elements cycle or on the Rift Guardian after stacking Bane of the Stricken for some time.
No reset of stacks mentioned after using any Pylon.
Do you think that grabbing the channelling and def is worth using at the last 1min in a boss fight for the AD splash or would the mob take the bane stricken stack away from boss too often?
I have a nice track record of giving false or bad advice for high GR players so you shouldn’t be asking me. Get into some streamers’ chat and ask them first handed.
But if I have to give a guess, I’d say it depends on the boss type you get. If you are dealing with a Rift Guardian that spawns lots of additional minions, (ie. Saxtris) you would take the Pylon early as picking a Pylon will trigger Nemesis and get you more into trouble with RG is nearing. At late phases of the fight, you’ll have to deal plenty of minions spawned by RG anyway.
Channeling or Shielding Pylons? I think I’d delay Channeling for late phases but it doesn’t hurt taking Shielding early unless RG’s late phases are brutal (ie. Bloodmaw, Raiziel) to stand or evade. Once invincible for a short period you can position where ever to stick at Rift Guardian by ignoring Elites around.
Just use the potion imo. The upside of getting a power is too great.
Once you’ve been stacking Stricken for a while, it often does make sense to pop a Channeling or Shield pylon for some extra AD on the boss. And of course, if you’re using Crimson or Squirt’s, each of those pylons will carry some extra benefit.
The times you wouldn’t want to grab the pylon are if there’s some way those elites can screw you up, for instance with Frenzy Barb, your damage gets split to every nearby enemy, so you definitely don’t want to grab the pylon after spawning the boss, except in some unusual circumstances.
For your own build (LoD Bomb) you might want to think about grabbing a Speed or Shield when you’re at 99%. That way you’ll have either faster Stricken stacking (Speed) or invulnerability (Shield) for a good chunk of the boss fight, without the summoned elites getting in the way, since they’ll die when the RG spawns.
