Available Skill tree D4

Hi!

I just came across some videos detailing skill trees in D4. I’m aware it’s in the beta state but they seemed underwhelming.

Are the skills we know the only ones that will be available or will there be more in the real game?

So far, I feel the number of skills and modifications offered are a bit lacking with only two options per skills and only a few choices in skills in the first place. I was under the impression there would be more customization options.

Does anyone know if there will be more at release?

Not to our knowledge. It’s just overall very boring.

There will be 23 skills per class, 3 modifiers per skill and about 30 talents. That’s it.

I agree the skill customisation greatly lacks options, maybe they will add more modifiers in the 6 months before release but that’s highly doubtful.
Number of skills and talents is quite enough however.

That’s disappointing.

With other games doing such great things with their skill customization I was hopeful they would innovate and bring it to another level. Also the search option gave me the impression the skill tree would be pretty extensive!

The search bar is more about finding every skill/mod/talent that improve specific mechanism such as Vulnerable or Chilling. Which is also disappointing as it means builds are kind of premade with certain skills combinations mandatory.

But it’s possible the “real”, deep customisation will come from paragon boards.

Pretty much that. They don’t premake sets in items but in the skilltree but then talk about “no whirlwind barb will be the same”
There are probably gonna be 2 different WW barb specs that’s it

Whirlwind does not have many synergies this time around. My have to forego this skill.
Bleed builds and Berserk build will maybe do the big damage.

haha so far it seems kinda true.

Their advertisement is like so many customization options, but I don’t see it at all. So far all classes have 2 or 3 easily predictable builds. That’s why I thought maybe they didn’t show everything yet. If at least there were more branching options maybe some builds would differ.

Sadly, yeah, very underwhelming.

Not even sure 1 of those 3 qualifies as a modifier, when there is no alternatives.
You will presumably always get the first skill upgradde, and then there is a choice between the next two. So the first one is just an integral part of the skill, that for some reason is split up in the UI.

So all in all, 1 choice, between two options, per skill. Quite absurd  D3 was better than that.

Sad thing is, when Blizzard talk about all the customization options in D4, it sounds like they mean the cosmetic options; hair color or whatever. And not the actual gameplay related character customization.
The latter seems incredibly limited. The skill tree literally cant be made more shallow (since it would have to go from 1 to 0 choices then), attribute points while lvling have been removed, and all there is left is a little bit of customization in Paragon Boards, but that also seems very very limited (the choice mostly being which boards you pick).

Bleed is just gonna be a “spec type” like one of 2 upgrades will have bleed and the other will have vulnerable/crit and then you just pick everything with that thing you wanna build and that’s it. Complete the checklist.

When you read the skills, you will see that Flay (a resource skill) does Bleed, a spender. Rend does a bigger bleed.
Then go to weapon mastery skill, several do bleeds. Several do special bleed effects.
Then go to weapon mastery passives you will see more bleed effects on differing mastery’s.
Then look at your Ultimate skills, one, Iron Maelstrom has a special bleed effect. Then look at your Ultimate passives and you will find another bleed effect.
May have to throw in a skill or passive that increases vulnerability too, as it works with some of the other bleed effects.

Now I’m also interested in the Beserking skills, yes it’s about the same dynamic. Note sure if I can fit both these in one build.
Beserking gives you 25% increased damage, 30% movement speed and if you talent correctly in passives (I think) also give you Unstoppable (breaks CC, cannot be CC’ed)
There are also plenty of passives to review that increase duration et cetera ( like bleed).

This is what I mean in a build for bleed or Beserk - Every body poo poo’s this skill tree and think this is all to simple, there are very many little (and maybe some big) synergies to be explored.

When it comes down to it, in the end you either have a bleed barb or physical barb.

If you want an Ice sorc. You’ll just pick the 6 ice skills available. A bone necro, pick the 6 bone skills available. Then you have two barely noticeable options to these skills. That’s it. It’s done.

The way I see it, you check the big passives at the end. See what skills work with that, then you have 1 option and there you have it. No more options.

Legendary items will adjust build too, but I won’t know what they do until I play and get some.

The developers specifically stated they were not going to go down the POE skill tree path in one of their video’s. What can I tell you other than what I’m aiming for.

Overpower, Berserk, bleed seem to be the main synergies, I’m not sure to call vulnerable a synergy yet or not.

Just watched a video on Lucky Hit Chance - much more complex than I thought.

Lucky Hit Chance

Sound like it is just a new word for D3 proc chances.
And they are off to an expectedly bad start, with the proc chances being too high for AoE skills… Why keep repeating the same mistakes? :grimacing:

The ability to increase proc chances is very positive on the other hand, and something I have argued in favor of for years.

Tbh, they should have kept the traditional “proc chance” name for it. People who play games generally know what that means. “Lucky Hit” on the other hand, it just a meaningless word, and it isn’t even like it is some kind of very Diablo flavored name that makes sense in the lore or something.

sounds like an attack that increases item drop chances after killing an enemy

Well it has improved from the first skill twig that was initially shown. There are a lot of unknows still at this point. But those ultimate skills i personally dont like. Skill is a skill wether it is a support skill a aura elemental or physical attack. Having one skill as a ultimate leads to everyone stacking CDR. Hurts build diversity.

They don’t appear to have much CDR in this version. So at least it won’t be like D3 in that regard.

I have seen horrible footage of skills cooling down while a fight is long over. Like 20 or 30 seconds.

Ah yeah cool downs are the worst. Just… don’t. No more. Find other ways, just forget the cool downs allready.
