And 3 days later the disgrace continues, following this:
Ping frequently spiking to the 700s
with an average of 270+ms
and a starting ping of 2000+ms to the point where the ping meter is actually frozen at 0ms before showing a ping of ~4100ms
feels like the toon is wading through water
After 20-30 game restarts and several modem/pc restarts, back to square 1.
Out of those 20-30 game restarts, only one instance showed a starting ping of 171ms (which is one of the lowest I’ve ever gotten), only for it to start steadily rising. By the time I restarted the game it had gone past the 250ms mark.
Am I supposed to toss a coin to decide which address to test? It’s any of the 3 ones at the bottom.
Ok it’s the first one, the only one spiking. And btw WinMTR is a useless heap of junk, allegedly showing a current ping of 203ms when it’s over 270 in-game at that moment, with rubberbanding and constant cast delay as if I’m fighting through water.
The results that you posted above show some packet loss happening between the NTT network and LG DACOM Corp Korea network, so there may be some issues going on there. Since this is not an issue with your ISP network or with the game servers themselves there may be little that we can do to clear it up unfortunately.
Using a VPN or mobile hotspot connection would change the route and may work around the problem area, but your results may vary.
Believe it or not, yesterday was an unusually good day in the last month or so. Today it’s been much worse.
But WinMTR is not completely in sync with what I see in-game. It doesn’t show the rubberbanding or the awful cast delay that I’ve been experiencing. But at the very least it shows where the rough problem lies.
I can use a VPN but I’m not familiar with this method. Can you elaborate, or give some suggestions on which VPN would be best for this kind of thing?
Mind you, free VPN, since I definitely can’t justify going premium for one game.

Hmm, I’ve been playing around with some trials and I’ve gotten the best results when connecting to Hong Kong servers. My ping actually dropped down to the 140s-150s vicinity, which I have NEVER seen before in my 7.5 years of D3’ing on the Asia server.
