Are we nephalem in Diablo IV?

I am just curious are the playable characters in D4 nephalem or just normal humans?
I will really like if we are normal humans with some powers trying to stop the evil around us

No one except Blizzard knows right now. I honestly wouldn’t mind either, but if we are Nephalem, hopefully it isn’t brought up as much as it was in Diablo 3.

I hope we’re just as human as the characters in the D4 cinematic.

I’d rather be an exceptional human than some god tier nephalem. It kinda takes away from the stakes when everyone tells you how you are great and can pretty much chump anyone, angel or demon, that gets in your way. It would be better if you were a normal person who just happen to get caught up in the war and through hard work, skill, determination, and some dumb luck, you end up coming out on top.

I believe we will be humans. I don’t know for sure, but the direction seems to point toward human.

I personally hope they don’t have us play as Nephalem anymore.

Humans of Sanctuary are Nephalems… The greater question is how powerful a variant it will be, and who we are going to fight.

Well, yes. Technically. They had another name, but what I mean is activated nephalem.

Well Tyrael destroyed the Worldstone breaking the power the restrained the nephalems. Diablo 3 ends with the release of the black soulstone, where after Malthael tries to contain the demonic essence of humans in the the black soulstone.

After Malthael is killed he has harvested the Prime Evils within himself and therefor releasing their souls again after death. Thus they are back in hell, growing up again. Nephalems are freed to grow ever stronger and free to choose which side to fight for, and Tyrael is a lost angel with a short lifespan.

Yes that’s what I thought too, maybe they just will downplay the Nehalem part as it seems unpopular at the moment.

That is right. But I largely believe that it depends on the direction and how the power of it feels. Right now the biggest issue is that the Prime Evils feels non threatening.

Given the direction of the story thou it does seem to suggest a fight between both heaven and hell for the Nephalems.

As long as they aren’t trying to constantly tell us about how special we are every 5 seconds I’ll be fine with us being whatever.

The Diablo 2 characters defeated 3 spirits of Nephalim at once, so they must not actually be all that special over a skilled regular Human anyway.

None of the original heroes in D1 or D1 were “normal people.”

Think about it. By the end of Act 1 in Diablo 2 your character was powerful enough to kill one of the 12 most powerful beings in Heaven and Hell.

The D3 Nephalem is just a boneless Doom Slayer so I hope not
