I would restart the computer to clear all caches and try again. Unfortunately when the servers have issues, the Battle.net app can get hung up and sometimes a full reboot is needed to kickstart it properly again.

did that, but it hasn’t helped anything. same issue as before. thanks for the suggestion though. meant to reply to TheTias. Oops.

OK, I’ve run the sacan & repaire, claersd caches, roobotted and STILL slows down during comabat…growl! Angry Trash Panda!
