My Macbook performance is ok, until it overheats, which takes about 5 minutes. I use Mac Fan Control but it doesn’t make much difference. Has anyone tried a cooling pad while playing D3? I ask because many reviewer out there say they’re total trash, but it’s the only thing I can think off that helps to lower the temperature.

If you’re overheating only five minutes in, you’ve almost certainly got some sort of debris inside the machine clogging the intake and/or exhaust. It would probably be a prudent step to take the unit to an Apple Store and have it cleaned out. A cooling pad will help, but won’t resolve the issue of insufficient airflow, so your hardware will still cook itself over time if you don’t clean it out.
