Haven’t played wizard in a long time. Having fun with Typhons Hydra build but want something flashier. Meteor is fun but anything viable atm? I’m doing GR100 with my Typhon set atm.
Not really. The Etched Sigil change pretty much killed meteor.
You could mess around with some stuff with manual cast meteors, but it’ll be more of a T16 thing. You won’t be doing high GRs efficiently with meteor now. And certainly nowhere near hydras, twisters, Frozen Orb, or Vyr’s.
Since they bricked ES, Meteor builds have become effectively useless. You CAN still play em, but there is no longer any way to “abuse” meteors, and even minor builds can excell where meteor can no longer. It’s dead.
Well, none of this is true. There is a Star Pact meteor build in the group meta that I have seen several times this season, and it is highly effective. (I think it has quite a bit of build-up though so probably not advisable for solo play.)
I would gladly see any proof of that. Any chance for this to happen ? 
I checked, the wizards on the 3p and 4p boards are both using LoD twisters. There’s a few more wizards on the 2p board, mostly twisters but I did see one Typhon’s hydra in there. No Star Pact anywhere.
Someone might be playing it, but they certainly aren’t ranking with it.
Icy Veins has a Star Pact build listed in their top tier. ((shrug))
Not sure how I can prove that I’ve played in groups with an effective meteor build, but then… I don’t really need to.

I think the D3 developer hates the meteor spell for unknown reasons.
Until today, I was still wondering why you can run Tal Rasha, a supposed to be meteor set, without having active meteor skill on the skill bar. 
Tal Rasha’s theme is not so much Meteor but multi-element. The issue is that multi-element is dead by design and as such Auto-Meteors are what remains thematically… which is sad.
Maybe because it is auto-meteor, so I got the impression that it is meteor set item. 
That build is from 2019!! That build got destroyed with the channeling item nerfs in 2020. It’s done. Right now it’s all about Hydra, Twisters and Vyr Todo. And still… that’s not saying much considering how the dev team kept nerfing our gear and doesn’t have the brains to see what they did wrong…
