Any chance D4 will add the Assassin class in the future?

What do you guys think?

My my favorite class has always been the Necro, but it’s followed closely by the Assassin. I know the Rogue is the mobility class that’s offered at the moment, but I’m not too sure how close that class is to the Assassin in gameplay. It seems the Rogue is like a Demon Hunter/Assassin hybrid of some sort. I haven’t seen too much melee gameplay of the rogue though. Seems it’s more ranged.

I also liked the Monk in D3 for the same reasons as the Assassin in D2. I don’t know, maybe others have seen more of the Rogue’s gameplay if it can be played similar as to the Assassin.

Personally I’d like to see the paladin, was disappointed necro was final class over paladin, but there is only 1 dexterity class at the moment. I don’t know how assassin would fit into things though, rogue definitely seems more range oriented but it looks to have melee abilities as well.

You are definitely getting your wish. If you look out on the web there was a Valkyrie/Angel/Paladin type class that was kind of leaked. It is literally on a concept art. So I do think that class is next. I was just hoping for the assassin as well.

I really think the trapsin playstyle should have a place in any arpg. Like an a or s tier place. I personally would love a lightning fury javazon type build. There is a little more satisfying than plowing down groups in one stroke.

Yea from what I’ve seen I don’t think the Rogue has many trap stuff, I could be very wrong on that. I hope we get at least 3 more classes outside of the regular five. I do think the holy defensive fighter is next, I’m just not sure what they will do with the next few classes.

Would rather have assassin than paladin, so if they decide to go that way, sure, but I am content enough with druid and necromancer for now, although, ideally, it would be better to have a wayfarer or other similar-style class where you can pick skills from anywhere.

Assassian was basically the rogue class, dh was rogue assassin, rogue now will probably be a mix or assassin/dh

My guess is that they already figure the rogue fills that archetype, even if the gameplay isn’t super close to that of the D2 assassin.

Amazing, isn’t it?

I don’t see how the Rogue can be considered anything except a DH/Assassin hybrid. Traps, Shadow Power, attacking from behind, bow attacks at range, etc…

Are they D2 Assassins? No, and neither should they be.

Was going to say rogue, but you beat me to it

I can see them implementing the assassin in D4, and I imagine the class would focus on martial arts, shadow (shadow clone for example), and contraption (assemble and dissassemble). Of course, this also depends on whether the Viz-Jaq’taar order still exists during Diablo 4.

So for the time being, I think an Assa is out of the question, and rightly so.
The rogue in D4 partly fills out the gameplay of the assassin. There may well be another such class, but it is likely to be half a decade away.

That a likely Valkyrie is coming next I find extremely interesting and the idea of it being a mix of holy warrior with spear and shield actually appeals to me much much more than a Paladin, which I remember as the least interesting class from D2. I’m just not a paladin player, but I do like significantly more of a spear fighter with holy and or lightning abilities that fit well with a melee style of combat. It just shouldn’t seem too godly and overdone with effects, but rather authentically down to earth and as one of us, so to speak.
If you turn the Valkyrie into such an over-the-top thing and inflate it into a kitschy fairy tale, then I’m more likely to be repulsed by it. But if it comes more in the Viking style and fits in well as a normal being, then it will pull me in.

What could come after that in terms of class, probably Blizz themselves do not even really know 100%.
It should just fit into the game and not tear the game apart. In the end, the game must work as a game to remain interesting. It is not advisable to degenerate it in any way through strange classes, always more colorful, faster or as an end-game game to grave to carry, because the actual game world becomes irrelevant and numbers and items bury the rest.

If I’m going to speculate, I’m guessing after the Valkyrie, if it comes, there will be a rather sinister class that springs from the ranks of demonic forces and has been corrupted.
And it will tend to be more of a mixed class of magic and something, or a pure magic class.
But I don’t think it will be an assassin.

Personally, I would like a Rune Master as a mage or a Rune Blacksmith as a mixed class of Rune Magic combined with a thick two-handed hammer or one-handed hammer weapon + shield. The latter is rather unlikely, but a Rune Mage would be more conceivable. At the same time it is solid, not a completely unknown exotic seen from class history and this class has maximum potential, is very implementable and has very many possibilities to bring in good class story on all levels.
It would be very different from the rest in almost all aspects and would have a strong slowed down gameplay to offer with rune symbols with wonderful effect possibilities, as well as a chance at dwarven race integration, which could greatly expand the game itself.
So a class that can bring in a maximum of content an innovation, which would do the game good and could also expand it wonderfully through zones, such as a dwarven city/realm for example.

But this is all pure wishful thinking.
What really awaits us…I don’t know…

Rogue have melee type gameplay with dual wield daggers as far as we know. Their portrayal on Diablo 2 with bows only don’t apply in Diablo 4. Most likely we will not see the charge-up and finisher game style, but Rogue is the closest you can get to Assassin.

Yea I watched a few videos last night, looks like there are some trap stuff there. I needed to have watched more, I’ve only seen brief trailer stuff, not really in depth stuff.

-Mom, can i have an Assassin in D4?
-We have Assassin in D4.

Assassin in D4: Rouge with dagger, melee and trap skills.

I’m gonna have to go snack shopping today, need for munchies!

So exciting.
