If you could only choose one class from the above, which one would you pick, and why?
Demon Hunter or nothing, the rest suck.
Isnt rouge a color?
Btw Amazon.
What is still a bit unclear to me as I havenât followed the news that closely is that are classes gender locked or not. If they are not gender locked, thatâs Amazon out right there. Amazon warriors are women only.
Amazon or Rogue make the most sense as they are in the earlier games that D4 is harkening back to. I donât want to see the Demon Hunter which I think is a stupid archetype in a game where every class hunts demons. I see no reason to create a new class like a Hunter and then recycle old skills like they did with DH in D3.
What I want is the Necromancer, Amazon (or Rogue), and Paladin return. After that Iâm fine with creating something new as a DLC class.
Probably the amazon. That said, if the amazon is chosen, they may get rid of her lightning enhanced spear and javelin skills as I donât see them giving 3 classes the power to manipulate lightning, which honestly would be a shame as I loved those skills.
Quite true; although it may be possible that with the world in such a state, the men of their culture also began training themselves for combat in order to fight against the evil thatâs been plaguing their world.
Thatâs essentially retconning established lore. Retconning is something which should never happen in any situation. Itâs a sign of lazy writing.
Difficult question.
I love the Amazon concept as it was in D2 (Spear and Bow)
However the Demon Hunter is the character D3 added that I actually liked allot.
If I really can have only one it would still be Amazon though.
Why? The Amazon was more unique than the Demon Hunter.
The Demon Hunter concept is ofcourse quite similar to an Assassin with bows, Assassin being one of my favorite all time classes I and I would definitely want to see this one, Amazon and Assassin would work better than Assassin and Demon Hunter, hence the choice.
Rogue either thief (not something for aRPG) or backstabber (rather have Assassin).
Ranger hunter in nature, lets leave that to the shapeshifting druid.
It would be a bad idea to make male Amazons. That essentially takes away the one thing that gives them a unique identity. All female class or just go with Rogue.
As far as I know of, itâs never been stated that their men canât become warriors, so itâs not outside the realm of possibilities, especially with the world being in perhaps the direst state itâs ever been.
Youâre promoting retconning. Thatâs a very bad thing. Retconning should never happen.
In Askari culture, only women serve as warriors, as their lithe bodies and superior dexterity are better suited than men for the dense jungles of their homeland.
I was watching a stream and saw some concept art from Blizzcon with the classes weâve seen so far and of another labeled âHunterâ, this could just be like a follower or something. But when I think of Hunters in an era that Diablo represents they would typically use bows and spears. Also they wouldnât be gender locked or have to make some weird lore as to why suddenly they arenât gender locked. But they may still be deciding on what classes to add. If leaks are to be believed it would be Paladin and Amazon.
Again, nowhere does it say that their men canât or lacked the ability to serve as warriors, only that their women are better suited in the jungles of their homeland. Not promoting any retcon, just saying that itâs not impossible.
Amazon is awesome, but has a gender issue (there are no male Amazons in Diabloâs lore). So a Rogue would be perfect! Bows, Knifes and Traps.
Demon Hunter sounds cheesy fantasy since D3âs announcement of the class.
If they can make male Amazons, that. I love the aesthetic and combat style. If not, Rogue.
Diablo lore aside we all know Amazons to be women warriors. That is the central theme of their identity. Why even use this as a class if youâre just going to change the identity to something else? That would be like turning the Paladin into something that wasnât holy or on the side of the light.
Well ofcourse the idea of Amazon came from the greek mythology and maybe that can come to the aid of the male âAmazonâ.
In greek mythology the Amazons were a female only warrior people, that did need to reproduce, thats were the Gargareans came in.
The Gargareans were male only and neighbouring to the Amazon, once a year they would meet and reproduce, the female children would be raised by the Amazon and the male children would be send to the Gargareans to be raised by them.
Being neighbours and same bloodline it would be reasonable to assume their fighting techniques are somewhat similar.
So you could make the character class and if you chose a female the class is called Amazon and if you chose male the class is called Gargarean.
As I said in another thread
Why not toy with the idea they have for Barbarians with a Ranger class? Wielding both a bow and daggers or throwing knives (or both) for use in various skills. No reason the whole âarsenalâ thing has to be Barbarian specific.
I like the idea of the Ranger as the bow/trap type with some animal companion skills. However, if they did a straight up Rogue with traps like the assassin, bows or blades (similar to the barbarians arsenal system, these skills I shoot flaming/poison arrows, these I pull daggers and backstab, etc.)
Iâd love to see them make use of their dynamic lighting as seen in the demo, but with the Rogue getting bonuses for attacking from the dark, dodge bonuses for being in shadow, even make items with decreased light radius be beneficial.
