Alter of rites How do you unlock seals?

Either I am as dumb as a box of rocks or something is amiss. How do you unlock a seal? I have read per the page but do not have a grasp how it works. Will someone explain please

There is a banner on the left which details what you have to sacrifice to unlock a seal.
Seals can only be unlocked in a top-down or left-right fashion.
The last ability, though it does not require a sacrifice does require a click.

It also works like this…

If you unlock the top node, you can then unlock either of the two next nodes. Then with the next sacrifice you can unlock either of the two nodes beneath that or the one you didn’t take.

And so on and so on.

It’s best to try to unlock the potions as quickly as you can, so pick a side to go down, I recommend the right. Then fill in the rest of the altar as you go.

Hope that helps.

Right side, left side, middle seems to be what many have done for the potions.

Biggest thing is to make sure you click on the seal you want to unlock then you can sacrifice to unlock that seal, providing you have the required materials.

I have been focusing on drop help first. Did what I needed to unlock double bounty cache’s first, now working toward doubling Kadala drop next. Only unlocking what I need to reach those points. But I’m taking my time, no hurry.

Also, as you advance in the game you will be accumulating more and more items that can be sacrificed. So, you might be able to unlock more than one seal. Read what you need don’t trash everything.

I found the potions pretty lackluster my first time around. Second account I chose to rush QoL stuff first (double bounties, pet pick ups, etc.).

I like the concept of the altar, I am not a seed racer it took 4 days to finish the season journey, but 10 days to fully unlock the altar. They should keep the altar in D3 just change it up every season.

This page is interactive and you can try different routes. (Remember to click the face at the bottom for double primals when all is unlocked). Also Maxroll.gg has some info and guides on the subject.

That altar planner was one of the best things to hit the forum. You get this for the link  :pizza:

  • Blizzard should put the link at the top of the page.
  • Have the seals turn a different color when unlocked.

They have this cool website…

Google.com.

Try it.

Maybe you should google “how not to act like an donkey’s butt?”

Maybe try that instead?

Before asking a forum how to do that if thats what I wanted, I would, as odds are, the answer would he there and I wouldnt come across lazy or entitled expecting someone else to hand feed me something I could spend 10 seconds looking up myself.

You can unlock the Altar nodes in any order, provided the next to be unlocked is connected to one you have previously unlocked, so the very first one is critical to getting anywhere.

  1. At the Altar, click on the power that you want. A power can only be unlocked if the one above it is already unlocked, so your first power has to be A, at the very top. After that, you are free to pick one of the ones below it, and continue working down (or laterally in some cases).

  2. Once you chose a power, the pane on the left will show you what you need to sacrifice, and if you have enough to make the sacrifice. So for the first node, you need 10 reusable parts. It will show you how many you currently have, and how many it requires like this: xx/10.

  3. If you have everything to make a sacrifice, the “Sacrifice” button at the bottom of the left hand pane will highlight. Click it and you’ve unlocked the power.

  4. If the sacrifice calls for an item where you can have multiple different versions, then when you click the “Sacrifice” button, the cursor will turn into a hammer icon. Then you have to click on the particular item you want to sacrifice. For example, the 4th sacrifice calls for a class-specific set helm. Since you can have multiple set helms (including the one you might be wearing), the game cannot just pick one at random. You need to select the one you want to sacrifice. The item therefore must be in your inventory.
For items that are in your materials tab, they will be automatically withdrawn. For items that can be stored, I can’t remember if the Altar can pull them from the stash, but I’ve always brought them in my inventory just to be sure.

  5. Once you unlock all the regular powers and the three potions powers, don’t forget to click the very bottom one to unlock double primals and your free set of wings.

Thanks to the OP for asking here instead of making a Bug Report-‘Altar is Broken!’

Doesn’t really matter because you can’t sacrifice the set helmet. Doesn’t work I got 16 set helmets in my inventory and no matter what I do the sacrifice light won’t come on doesn’t let me click on the helmet doesn’t let me do anything games bugged pretty sad considering how old it is

Never had a similar issue or heard that before. Altar specifies Class Set Helm to be sacrificed and brought to it. As far as I remember a Zunimassa’s Voodoo Mask or Inna’s Spirit Stone will not work. Any of the mass crafted side Set helms; ie. Guardian’s Gaze or Aughild’s Spike, will not work. Any Legendary helm, will not work again.

You have to bring a head piece, classified as a Set Helmet and part of any of the five class Set available to your class. When you are sure that’s the right piece, you bring it to the Altar and point to it after clicking the node you want and sacrifice it to the Altar by pointing at the salvage cursor that appear.

Sure it’s older than this near 2 year old thread.

Probably another PEBCAK, not much to do.

any idea why not? Those are headpieces for sets which even have a set dungeon, so basically “core”.
Strange …
