Altar of Rites - the Death's Breath nodes

I won’t comment on anything else regarding the Altar, but these two nodes:

M - Double the amount of Death’s Breaths that drop.
U - Pets pick up Death’s Breath.

need a change. Like seriously. The select few who really need double Death’s Breath can just use that set bonus we already got… or go and farm visions, they will be spammed with DB anyways. There is no need for the “we doubled it” node on top of that.

Here is my suggestion:

Instead of doubling a mat we are already flooded with (i.e. Death’s Breath), the M node should flat double if not triple the yield of all normal craft mat drops - that is parts, dust, crystals and souls.

Same goes for auto picking. Why the heck only Death’s Breath. Make the U node so that all normal craft mats are autopicked. Bounty mats and other specials are not necessary, but again, parts, dust, crystals and souls should be auto picked.

I’m sure, I’m not the only one who would appreciate that.

Pets should just pick up all mats and they should have vacuum pick up enabled too.

Doubling whites/blues/yellows/souls sounds good to me.

How about “Double the amount of Forgotten Souls that drop” instead?

Or let it unlock conversion tabs in the cube, at decent penalty of course:
100 DB + white/yellow/blue item turn into 100 RP/VC/AD
100 DB turn into 8-10 (?) forgotten souls
(maybe even 100 DB turn into 1/2 primordial ash)

Yeah, I’d like something like this. DBs are generous these days, between the set and the visions. We don’t need more of them, and we desperately need more souls from somewhere. I’d be thrilled if M shifted to triple gains from salvaging items, and U shifted to “pets pick up crafting reagents” or something more broad.

Something…please Blizzard, the amount of DBs now that Visions and this node are perma is going to be so out of control vs everything else!

While I prefer the nodes being adjusted, I would also settle for a solution where we get a material vendor…

For starters, I can imagine one of the various Trader NPCs to offer that kind of service. How about letting them exchange mats. Like pay for craft mats with Death’s Breath and gold.

Well, that’s basically part of my suggestion to just double or triple the normal craft mat drops. But only souls isn’t going to help much with souls being in high demand (thanks to Visions). If that’s your goal. It would have to affect salvaging as well, then.

Best solution is to just include all the other mats for the doubling, to encourage rare to legendary crafting that uses most DBs and also include them in the pet pickup.

If you just double the FS you’ll still end up with the DB overflow problem.

Maybe it is staying because vision drop rates are changing?

Well that is what I would prefer anyway. This season’s visions makes regular rifts obsolete. Which is totally fine if it is a theme but wouldn’t make sense if it was permanent.

Leave visions with bounty mats and a bit of the rest, but no keys. Have regular rifts be our key and DB activity (both equal in terms of item drops?) and then they both have a purpose.

I know the DB change won’t happen, that would require reprogramming elites in visions to not drop them in the same way as rifts and I don’t see them going through that effort. But some reason to do rifts would be better.

But it signifivally boost solo players. And fissures seems better to farm solo. Maybe loot is less but more comfortable play it on your own way instead wait for others to go next level

Sure, I really enjoy them because of that since I despise bounties and never play in groups and it is a great way to bridge that gap, better than other suggestions that have been floating around I think.

But haven’t people been doing regular rifts solo exclusively since the follower change anyway? So they still would make it so that nobody plays regular rifts, whether solo or in teams.

I agree with that as well. Visions, especially if the spawn rate is basically the same as now, should not provide Rift Keys… they should be the mat farming hotspot and they are great for that, especially with the Altar and auto-salvage coming back. Now, if they remove keys and add a reasonable amount of Forgotten Souls to the chest at the end, then Visions would be pretty much purrfect :smile_cat:

I don’t miss running nephalem rifts at all. And we still have the option anyway, if we so fancy.

Man that is going to be so much nicer for visions. Even if you only picked up whites and blues to convert to yellows and that way didn’t go to town much this will still be so much nicer. Will make getting souls nicer as well since you will have more space for legendaries.

Part of me thinks it is the thing I am looking forward to the most out of all the changes.

I do agree for this season, but it was more because it was a change to the norm. I tend to want to switch up my activities when the season starts getting on, would always do farm 100 keys, do 100 GRs and repeat to break up the monotony. With some puzzle rings or nightmares sometimes in that 30 second closing time. Replacing the amount of time it takes to farm 100 keys with only doing visions would get boring to me so 100 keys, 100 GR’s, then puzzle rings/nightmares/visions when I feel like it or need them sounds like a process with more longevity for me.
