Add shields indicator on UI blizzard, please!

Hello, I’m here to make a request: I play most of time with wizzard, and all wizzard builds use shields, but unfortunately we don’t have a shield indicator on our UI, so please blizzard, as soon as you can, give a look at this.

This is a screenshot of how they managed this on POE:

They added a indicator at the right of our health globe, you guys could try this.

They already have, years ago. It didn’t last long. Never gave a reason why, but then again they’re not exactly known for their aptitude.

I like to play Diablo the way. I estimate the enemy pack strenght, then consider if I can take it or no. So I cant really agree with this idea. If anything I would love to see them improving “enemy indicators”.

Yeah looks like the code is already there in the game, just need to turn it on… please blizzard, I never asked you for anything. This would be a great improvement to the game, I’m sure!

@Lanister You’ll still be able to do all what you said my friend, and now with more consistent than before.

They tried adding in a shield indicator in the past but something went wrong and it didnt work out. It’s pretty much a failed project where they didnt want to spend anymore time and money into fixing it. But I do agree and support of the idea that we should have something like this in the game, maybe if we get enough supporters, the D3 team would notice us and start working on a fix for it.

I thought you can see the bubble around your character when the shield is up for I am seeing things here?

I guess technically yes that is a shield indicator lol, but i think what we want is a better shield indicator that is similar to what current PoE has. It has a better visual of how much shield you have left rather than D3’s just letting you know that you have a shield and not showing how much left you have.

It was working just fine in that…PTR, if I recall correctly. There were no issues reported or anything. They just removed it without a word.

You’re not. However for some folks, they could lose sight of it while in the midst of combat. Also the bubble around your character only indicates whether you have a shielding effect active. It doesn’t indicate the amount of your shielding effect, nor give you any indication as to whether it’s running low. That can only be learned by hovering your cursor over your health globe, however doing that in the midst of combat would not only leave you open for a bit, but also waste some precious time (especially if we’re talking about constantly trying to see shielding numbers).

I don’t see how players being able to see their shielding numbers easier impedes on your ability to estimate an enemy pack strength.

At OP, I agree with having an optional setting to let people see their shielding effect on their health globe; this has also been requested before, but to no avail Blizzard, as far as I know of, hadn’t made any comment on it.

There’s a quoted response here from Nev, cant really find the original though.

You must be new here…:stuck_out_tongue:

Missing shield indicator is pretty much game-breaking. I can’t believe D3 devs are still struggling with such basic feature.

Just make it like this: xhaste.sweb.cz/wizard_shields.png

2 bars, different scales for all characters who have any permanent shield skill active

as WittyGem already said, there once was a Shield Indicator in the game. To be more precise, it was during the RoS beta, but it was removed for some reason - either because it did not work how they wanted it to work, or because the overlay took away the whole Health Globe, which meant that you couldn’t see your total health (see below).

Or maybe Energy Shield was removed as whole, because they couldn’t get the whole ES system to work, not just the overlay, as you can see in the screenshot below of a character who died while still having a ton of Energy Shield.

But now that Energy Shield works as a mechanic in the game, they simply could adjust the overlay a bit to make more of the Health Globe visible, similar to how it looks in PoE, but I don’t know how much time and manpower they can spare to do that, though it would be tremendously useful to do so, at least for static Energy Shield (Galvanizing Ward, Molten Gizzard) while excluding non-static sources of ES (like Magic Weapon with the Deflection rune, etc).

If you look at the link of the image I posted in my previous post, there wouldn’t be any issues. You can clearly see both health and shield. They already have this kind of bar functionality on DH’s resources. The only work involved would be to enable it for selected skill combinations… and change colors

Don’t post broken links. Make it intact, highlight it and click the </> button.

Link is not broken. It’s a pure text because, for some reason, I can’t post links.

That’s why I just gave you instructions of how to post full links.

An incomplete link is a broken one. This is a broken link:
www.blizzard.com
This is a functional link:
https://www.blizzard.com/

In your mind, correct text link, that is not highlighted as code, incomplete? Wow.

Not being highlighted is not problem, link being incomplete is.
