Hey
I’m sure there were many topics around this but i miss the right wording in google to show me result i need to read. So…
When i equipping the weapon, should i mind the comparison percentage, or not so much? As a Demon Hunter i have bow and quiver, found 2H crossbow with 200 more DPS than my current bow (1500 to 1700DPS), yet the comparison shows that i would go down 4% on damage if i equip it. I gave it to scoundrel and it raised his current dmg for 160%, greatly overcame mine (his dmg was slightly lower than mine). So what is the trick?
Swapping from the bow to the two-handed crossbow means you lose the 8% damage bonus that Archery was giving you for using a bow. Also, you didn’t say what the other affixes were on the two weapons.
I had that but i changed that a hours ago for more hatred passive skill. Even if that was the case, I had around 60 000 dmg, Lyndon had around 40 000, but after i gave him that crossbow he had all of sudden over 100 000 DMG. Don’t you think that 8% of a passive skill changes more than 160% for my companion? Makes no sense.
It seems like you have both Blood Vengeance and Archery on that profile.
Followers have a multiplier of 2.5x from main stats and certain abilities of them can amplify their damage passively. Perhaps that xbow had more main stat to make a big difference for Follower but since you had Archery passive, that bow appeared better.
Whatever suits your view. We can only make guesses from here.
It seems that the character don’t update to here when i play with it, she have lvl 65 now and i don’t have archery anymore. But i took a pic with the phone.
rare bow i have equipped 1530.2 DPS, against rare crossbow in the inventory, 1707 dps, the difference said loss of 1,2% dmg if i change it. Passives i have now:
Blood Vengeance, Custom Engineering and Night Stalker, nothing of it giving me any dmg. No need to make guesses, i can tell you anything you need to know, just ask. Any detail.
The bow have + 413 Dexterity and +417 Vitality, crossbow have none of that, just higher damage and +6% of damage.
Or is it because bow has 1,40 attacks per second and crossbow 1,10?
The two-handed crossbow does not have Dexterity on it
Looking at your armoury page, it says you have just under 2000 Dexterity bonuses from gear, so at your hero level, I’d assume you have maybe 5000 Dexterity in total. Is that about right?
For every point of main stat that you have, you gain 1% more damage. So…
5000 base dexterity + 413 dexterity from bow = 5413% damage
5000 base dexterity + 0 dexterity from two-handed crossbow = 5000% damage
( 5000 / 5413 ) * 100 = 92.37%
So, roughly 7.6% less damage due to having less Dexterity, being somewhat offset due to the crossbow having a better damage number.

Oh… that explains it perfectly. So i did a small test and found out that weapon DPS is a firm number. Only direct DMG addition (like gem socket) can change it. Attribute won’t change it, but it changed my overall DMG i already possess. Thanks man, that was the answer i sought!
