According to the all-knowing interwebzz, Barbarians and Monks get a 30% damage reduction from all sources.
A pre-RotN loading screen hint claimed that Saders do NOT get it.
Other folks on aforementioned all-knowing interwebz claim that the Crusader does after all get the 30% DR.
So who’s right? Or has it changed and it used to be different than it it now?
For Vanilla, melee characters (barb and monk) got a 30% DR bonus while ranged characters (Wiz, DH, and WD) didn’t. This was done to the melee characters since they were going to get hit more than a ranged character should.
When the Cru was announced with the RoS, it was going to have a 15% DR bonus. The thinking most likely from the developers was that it was going to be a mid-ranged character, so it got half the melee bonus.
From what I remember (this was 9 years ago), PTR testing before ROS release or very, very early ROS showed the Cru was played mostly as a melee character, so it was changed to 30% as is with barb and monk.
It’s one of the loading screen tips; it lists that 'sader, Barbs and Monks take 30% less damage than the other classes. As mentioned, the defense bonus increased to 30% from 15%.
and witchdoctors literally hated by the dev’s again. Jade set literally designed to be the closest melee class in the history of the game. i mean, i’m not gonna say why, but we all know why they treat witchdoctor this way.
Could be easily fixed by baking in more DR into the set.
Of course the issue is that with the last balance patch, they balanced sets to be equivalent amongst the sets for the same class, not across the game as a whole. It was a half baked effort.
You mean, Jade Harvester? With Lakumba’s bracers you only need to keep track of Soul Harvest which offer 90% damage mitigation for 12 secs and ~78% mitigation for rest of the duration of it. You may need to go in and out to burst, but you only need to track one variable for your defense buffs and both of your DoT debuffs seek targets their own.
